Wild Zones are habitats for Pokemon to live comfortably within Lumiose City. They were constructed by Quasartico Inc. and serve as the main areas where trainers can catch wild Pokemon. However, there are still Pokemon that can be caught outside of these Wild Zones such as on rooftops.
Each Wild Zone is assigned a number shown on its gates and in the minimap. Unlike Battle Zones, they can be explored either day or night.

Battle Zones are enclosed by red holograms and they are where players can find trainers to battle and rank up in the Z-A Royale. Battle Zones are only found at night.

Rooftops are explorable areas that can be accessed through ladders and Holovators. With the new Rotoglide feature, players can temporarily glide off of them.

On your trainers' trip to Lumiose City, Hotel Z will serve as your home base for both you and your new friends (Urbain or Taunie, Lida, Naveen). The hotel itself is owned by AZ.

The Quasartico Inc. Headquarters are where you'll find members such as Jett and Vinnie who are at the forefront of the new urban development plan. Trainers can also exchange Mega Shards for Mega Stones here.

Cafes are a place where trainers can relax, restore their Pokemon's health and increase their friendliness. One of the party pokemon can join the overworld and sit next to the trainer.

Trainers are able to change their makeup, and buy new clothes and hairstyles at shops and hair salons around the city.
All Shop Locations and What You Can Buy

Pokemon Centers are found in buildings where trainers can both heal their Pokemon and buy items.

Racine Construction is where you can exchange your colorful screws for Canari Plushes, which give special effects in the overworld and in battle.

Returning from Pokemon X and Y, the Stone Emporium carries different evolution stones and an assortment of related items.

Hovering over an icon with a blue feather indicates that you can fast travel to that location. Keep in mind that not all buildings can be fast travelled to. The places that can be fast travelled to are:

You can check your Main Missions and Side Mission on your map screen by pressing X. This will open a menu that shows your present mission, alongside all the missions that you have already completed.

You are unable fast travel if you are in the middle of a battle with a Trainer or a Wild Pokemon. You can escape a Trainer Battle by pressing the minus (-) button on your switch. For Wild Pokemon battles, run as far away as possible to escape.

Some places are locked behind story progression. Most of the time, once you have left the building after a cutscene, the fast travel point will be unlocked.

You can start exploring parts of the city on your own during Main Mission 5: The City in the Shadow of Prism Tower During this mission, you will be allowed to explore a little after being introduced to Wild Zones by your rival.
The entirety of the game's setting takes place solely in Lumiose City. You will not be able to travel outside of the city at any point.

Overworld obstacles can be removed by using specific types of Pokemon moves. For instance, boulders can be destroyed by using Fighting-type Moves, and thorns can be destroyed by using any Fire-Type Moves.
Simply take out your Pokemon, target the obstacle, then use the right move to clear the way!

Lumiose City is located in the Kalos Region and is considered the central hub and meeting area in the region.
The Prism Tower is the city's most notable landmark and was also home to the city's Electric-type Gym. The structure is heavily inspired by the Eiffel Tower as the entire region is based on France.
Lumiose City first appeared in Pokemon X and Y, which is the Sixth Generation of Pokemon games.
This generation saw the debut of Fairy-type Pokemon as well as the Mega Evolution battle mechanic, which was also featured in the trailer.
