The Nintendo Switch 2 Edition, Nintendo Switch Edition, and Upgrade Pack for Pokemon Legends Z-A are all compatible with the Nintendo Switch 2 console. If you own the Nintendo Switch edition and are using a Nintendo Switch 2 console, you'll need to purchase the Upgrade Pack if you wish to get the performance enhancements of the Switch 2 version.
The total price for the Switch 2 Edition and the Switch edition + Upgrade Pack are comparable, though notably, it is 1 cent cheaper to purchase the Switch Edition and the Upgrade Pack.
Both the Nintendo Switch 2 and Nindendo Switch editions of the game can also be played on a Nintendo Switch. However, if the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition is used on a Nintendo Switch, it will play as a Nintendo Switch version without the performance enhancements.

The Nintendo Switch 2 Edition has better performance and graphics, with the game running at a faster and smoother frame rate. However, this isn't evident if you play the Switch 2 Edition on a Nintendo Switch.

How to Upgrade to the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition
Have a Nintendo Switch Edition Game
Make sure that your copy of the game is the Nintendo Switch edition and not the Nintendo Switch 2 edition. Your game can be either physical or digital. Both will work with the Upgrade Pack.
Purchase the Upgrade Pack from the eShop
The Upgrade Packs is available on the Nintendo eShop and My Nintendo Store. Log into your Nintendo Account, then purchase the Upgrade Pack from there.
Once it finishes downloading, you should be able to play the Nintendo Switch 2 version of the game!
