Has the user aim at the designated opposing Pokemon, charge up power, and then unleash a beam of light that sweeps up the ground in a straight line. In addition to the beam's base damage, it also deals additional damage to opposing Pokemon it hits equal to a set percentage of their max HP. The user is left unable to act for a short time after using this move.
You can increase Hyper Beam's damage output by stacking Dragon Dance damage increase effect, enabling you to take out a large portion of your enemies' HP in a single burst.
Hyper Beam's icon will change subtly to indicate how many times you've stacked Dragon Dance's damage increase effect.
Always move around to get the best position while you're charging Hyper Beam, especially when the target is fleeing from you. This increases your chances of hitting your target. Remember, the closer you are to your target, the higher the chance of hitting them.
Hyper Beam's percentage based damage makes it a great move for stealing or finishing boss Pokemon like Zapdos. With the right timing and a bit of estimation, you can quickly burst them down even at 1/4 of their HP.
