| Rank | Item | Reasoning |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Mega Stones | Purchasing the Mega Stones gives trainers more options for Pokemon to Mega Evolve, thereby increasing their power. This also helps trainers fill up the Mega Evolution Pokedex and progress towards obtaining the Shiny Charm. |
| 2 | Held Training Items | These held training items help maximize a Pokemon's EV when levelling up. This is an excellent option for competitive players looking to maximize a specific stat. |
| 3 | Resetting EVs at the Rust Syndicate | Related to the held training items, players can reset their Pokemon's EVs at the Rust Syndicate after completing Main Mission 20. This gives the player more control over how their Pokemon's stats grow. |
| 4 | Exp. Candy S | The Exp. Candy is useful in the early game by simply farming Mega Shards and exchanging them at Quasartico Inc. However, it is faster to gain more Exp. through the Z-A Royale. |

Trainers can exchange their collected Mega Shards for Mega Stones, Exp. Candy S or Held Training Items (during the post-game) at Quasartico Inc. Note that there is a limit of carrying only 999 Mega Shards so trainers will have to spend their Mega Shards before reaching that limit.
Also note that more Mega Stones at Quasartico will be unlocked by progressing the Main Missions and that not all Mega Stones are obtained at Quasartico Inc. Some of them can be received after winning Rogue Mega Pokemon battles or purchased at the Stone Emporium.

After completing Main Mission 20, trainers can head to the counter at the Rust Syndicate to reset their Pokemon's EVs for only 5 Mega Shards. This is a helpful option for those looking to EV train and start fresh with maximizing certain stats.
EV Training Guide

To farm Mega Shards simply call out your Pokemon and command them to use a move similar to how you would do so in a battle. Note that status effect moves or non-damaging moves will not break the Mega Crystals.

Mega Shards are a new material introduced in Pokemon Legends: Z-A. They can be farmed by breaking Mega Crystals (large pink stones) found throughout Lumiose City. These Mega Crystals have suddenly appeared alongside the game's events with Quasartico's Urban Redevelopment and the appearance of Rogue Mega Pokemon.
Mega Crystals of different sizes, when broken, will give trainers random amounts of Mega Shards (2-10) and Exp. for the Pokemon breaking them (15-50).
