My Hero Ultra Impact is shutting down on May 17, 2026, nearly five years after its release.
My Hero Ultra Impact Closes Servers in Two Months
Finale Campaign Gives Free Daily Pulls
My Hero Ultra Impact (MHUI), the gacha mobile title based on the immensely popular shounen anime My Hero Academia (MHA), will end its service on May 17 at 10:59 PM ET / 7:59 PM PT / May 18 at 11:59 AM JST. Its official X (formerly Twitter) page shared the announcement, and developer Bandai Namco Entertainment's website also posted a notice of service termination. The closure is only a day away from the turn-based RPG’s fifth anniversary.
According to the announcement, players can still use the items and Hero Gems left in their respective accounts before the scheduled shutdown. Nonetheless, the game has already disabled the purchase of Hero Gems and Regular Courses as of March 16.
A finale campaign is currently underway, granting players free daily pulls for 10x Recruits. The concluding update also added the option to revisit stories from previous events that the players might have missed. "Let's play #MHUI to the very end!" the post on X read.

Aside from expressing their gratitude to the players, none of the game’s official channels provided the exact reason behind the service termination. However, fans speculated on two possible scenarios that led up to the decision.
Firstly, they believed it might have something to do with the lack of content it could borrow from its source materials, despite already featuring an original story that expanded the main IP. The manga serialization of Kohei Horikoshi's My Hero Academia ended in August 2024, whereas the anime's final season wrapped up in December 2025.
Another plausible explanation revolved around long-term profitability. As a free-to-play, live-service title, MHUI relied on in-game purchases to continue operating. Fans suggested that low player engagement, especially among the MHA fanbase, could be a primary factor in revenue loss.
Fans Surprised It Lasted 5 Years

Community reactions online ranged from anticipation to disappointment. On one hand, many have already predicted MHUI’s end-of-service (EoS) announcement, with the lack of new banners and player surveys released as of late. Still, they also found its lifespan impressive, noting that it is no easy feat for an anime gacha game to last five years.
Meanwhile, the more active side of the player base lamented its discontinuation, though they were also aware that it was only "a matter of time" before the news arrived. Several users enjoyed its "chill" and "fun" nature and regretted having to part from it. Players who only picked up the game recently echoed similar sentiments, having discovered a newfound love for the game, only to see it end abruptly.
Another MHA Mobile Game Bites the Dust

MHUI is not the first mobile game based on the MHA IP to be discontinued. On March 31, 2025, Xin Yuan Studios’ MMORPG My Hero Academia: The Strongest Hero also faced closure, four years after its controversial global launch, which was marred by widespread dissatisfaction over over-nerfed, high-tier characters.
The EoS announcements for the two MHA games over the past year heightened community attention on Bandai Namco Entertainment's 2023 console battle royale, My Hero Ultra Rumble (MHUR). Even though fans doubted that its player count would "dwindle anytime soon," they also agreed that it is a valid point of concern.
Nonetheless, the general video game scene surrounding Kohei Horikoshi's shounen IP is still running. My Hero Academia: All's Justice, the newest addition to the lineup of MHA titles, was just released on February 6, 2026. It marked the conclusion of the One's Justice trilogy and showcased MHA's final arc.
