Blastoise Best Nature and Moveset for Story

Bold or Calm

Nature Stat Changes
Bold Defense, Attack
Calm SpDef, Attack

Due to Blastoise having very high Defensive stats, its best natures are either Bold or Calm to boost its Defense or Special Defense further.

Blastoise also has a better Special Attack stat compared to its Attack, so choosing one of the above natures allows Blastoise to still deal some damage with its Special Moves.

Alternative Natures

Nature Stat Changes
Relaxed Defense, Speed
Sassy SpDef, Speed

You can also give Blastoise either Relaxed or Sassy nature, allowing you to increase your Defense or Special Defense at the cost of reduced Speed.

Keep in mind that giving Blastoise any of the above two natures will increase the cooldown of moves, putting you at a disadvantage against faster Pokemon.

Use Mints to Change Natures

Mint Usage

If your Blastoise has a different Nature than the ones we recommend above, you can use a Mint to change its Nature.
Mints Locations and How to Change Nature

Best Blastoise Moveset for the Story

Move Type Cooldown
Flash Cannon Pokemon Steel Type Icon 8
Hydro Pump Pokemon Water Type Icon 12
Ice Beam Pokemon Ice Type Icon 8
Focus Blast Pokemon Fighting Type Icon 12

We recommend the moves Aqua Jet, Dark Pulse, Hydro Pump, and Ice Beam when using Blastoise during the main story.
