Alpha Steelix can appear in Wild Zone 3 as a one-time encounter during Main Mission 40, available only at post-game.
It is highly recommended to save the game after receiving Mable's "special research tasks" during the mission so players can reset if they fail to capture the Alpha.
There are no known locations to find a wild Steelix, and is a Pokemon that can only be acquired by evolving its previous form once you have met its evolution conditions.

Mega Steelix
|
| Nature | Stat Changes |
|---|---|
| Impish | ↑ Defense, ↓ SpAtk |
| Careful | ↑ SpDef, ↓ SpAtk |
Due to Steelix having very high Defensive stats, its best natures are either Impish or Careful to boost its Defense or Special Defense further.
Steelix also has a better Attack stat compared to its Special Attack, so choosing one of the above natures allows Steelix to still deal some damage with its Physical Moves.
| Nature | Stat Changes |
|---|---|
| Relaxed | ↑ Defense, ↓ Speed |
| Sassy | ↑ SpDef, ↓ Speed |
You can also give Steelix either Relaxed or Sassy nature, allowing you to increase your Defense or Special Defense at the cost of reduced Speed.
Keep in mind that giving Steelix any of the above two natures will increase the cooldown of moves, putting you at a disadvantage against faster Pokemon.

If your Steelix has a different Nature than the ones we recommend above, you can use a Mint to change its Nature.
