It is recommended to save your progress before you face an Alpha Vivillon, as it may escape a thrown Poke Ball or if you accidentally defeat it without attempting to catch it.
How to Save Your Game
A Quick Ball is an effective Poke Ball to use against Alpha Pokemon that has not spotted you yet. This can be paired along with the backstrike bonus that increases you capture rate when you throw a Poke Ball onto your target's back.
This is useful as you can sneak around and position yourself behind an Alpha Pokemon and utilize both capture bonuses.

As you progress through the game, most Alpha Pokemon you encounter will typically be of higher level than you. To weaken them reliably, we recommend status moves that deal passive damage such as Poison, Burn, or Curse damage.
Inflicting these status conditions will guarantee that the target Alphas will have their HP lowered over time, during which you can continue capture attempts, provided they aren't enraged.
Do note that Poison and Steel-type Pokemon cannot be poisoned, so you can instead apply passive damage with Will-O-Wisp. Meanwhile, Curse's residual damage will only work if it is used by a Ghost-type Pokemon.

You can also use Perish Song against an Alpha as this guarantees that the target will faint after 30 seconds, although you will not be able to throw Poke Balls while waiting as the target will still have a lot of health.
You will also have only one chance of capturing it once it is Knocked Out from Perish Song's effect. It is recommended to use a Timer Ball as this will become more effective the more actions your target has done, and is useful against Pokemon that has a high Speed stat.
Perish Song Effect and Pokemon That Learn It

An Alpha Pokemon may become enraged if you throw a Poke Ball multiple times without successfully catching it. If an Alpha Pokemon is angry, Poke Balls will bounce off if you throw them and you will not be able to capture it until it calms down.
Any Poke Ball that has bounced away can be reclaimed from the Lost Poke Balls NPC found near Pokemon Centers.

The capture rate of Alpha Pokemon increases when you defeat them entirely, where they will be stunned for a few seconds.
When the Alpha Vivillon is stunned after being Knocked Out, you get one last chance to throw your best Poke Ball, like an Ultra Ball, for a capture. With any luck, you'll catch your target. And if it fails, you can always load your previous save, or just wait for it to respawn.
