How to Use Iron
Use to Increase a Pokemon's Defense
Iron is a surefire way to increase a Pokemon's Defense stat. Specifically, Iron gives 10 EVs to a Pokemon's Defense Stat.
Effort Values (EVs) are hidden values that correspond to each of the six main stats that a Pokemon has: HP, Attack, Defense, Special Attack, Special Defense, and Speed. Specifically, 4 EVs is equivalent to 1 stat point, and a Pokemon can only gain a maximum of 252 EVs per stat and a total of 508 EVs.
