Has the user unleash an icy-cold beam of energy in the designated direction, dealing damage to opposing Pokemon it hits and freezing the ground. Opposing Pokemon on the frozen ground take damage over time and have their movement speed decreased, and they become frozen if they remain on the frozen ground for a set amount of time. When the user is on the frozen ground, its movement speed is increased.
Use Ice Beam to discourage enemies from passing through certain areas. Since enemies who step on the frozen ground receives damage over time and gets frozen when they stay for too long, using Ice Beam on tight spots like entrances can keep enemies away.
Using Ice Beam on wild Pokemon camps, particuarly the Altaria and Swablu camps, is a great way to prevent melee enemies from taking them while securing the camp for Lapras and its allies.
Use Ice Beam to slow targets. Hitting enemies even with just the beam from Ice Beam already slows them for a short duration. This allows Lapras and its allies to catch up to fleeing enemies or to stay on top of them.
1.13.1.4 | Damage taken by enemies on frozen ground reduced by 20%. |
