Wide Guard Effect

Wide Guard In-Game.jpg

Has the user focus in place for a short time to create a great shield on itself. When the great shield appears, the user shoves opposing Pokemon that are in front of it. At the same time, the boost count increases by one and the user receives a shield effect. When the great shield disappears, the user again performs a shoving motion in front of itself. If any opposing Pokemon are shoved, their movement speed is decreased for a short time and the boost count increases by one. If all of the HP that is gained from the user's shield effect is depleted before the great shield would have disappeared on its own, the user performs a shoving motion in front of itself, but in this case, it increases the boost count by one unconditionally.

How to Use Wide Guard

Negate Damage from Attacks

Activating Wide Guard allows Aegislash to soak up damage for a short time. Getting hit while the move is activated allows it to gain extra boosted meters so it can fight back. Additionally, keeping with its namesake, Wide Guard ensures Aegislash can push back any offense that tries to get too close! This can also be used to effectively defend goal zones.

Block Crowd Control Moves

Aside from staving off damage, Wide Guard can also prevent Aegislash from getting stunned or knocked away by enemy moves. Notably, any knockbacks from Unite Moves are also blocked.

Stop Opponents from Advancing

You can act as a wall and block your enemy's path using Wide Guard, allowing you to hinder enemy movement. This technique is best used in tight spaces like choke points and walls.
