Challenge Missions and Rewards
In this game mode, you won't be able to bring your own battle items. Instead, taking down wild Delibirds grants you presents that turns into unique battle items exclusive to this event! They have effects different from the usual Battle Items so use them to your advantage!
Battle Items | Effects |
---|---|
Electro Wall | Creates an impenetrable wall of electricity that disappears after a set amount of time. Pokemon from the opposing team that come in contact with the wall are left unable to act. Wall Duration: 5 seconds |
Gravity Smoke | Shoots a puff of smoke that spreads out into a circular cloud if it hits an opposing Pokémon, decreasing the movement speed of opposing Pokémon in the area of effect for a short time. The smoke then pulls all opposing Pokémon in the area of effect to the center of the cloud, leaving them unable to act for a short time. Can be used multiple times until it hits succesfully. Cannot be used on Wild Pokemon. Cooldown: 1.5s |
Pokemon Propeller | Propels the user forward into a dash, shoving any opposing Pokemon hit by the dash until they hit an obstacle. |
Repositioner | Decreases the movement speed of the opposing Pokemon it hits for a short time, and switches the positions of the user and that Pokemon. Can be used multiple times until it hits succesfully. Cannot be used on Wild Pokemon. Cooldown: 1.5s |
Snowball | Has the user become a large snowball and roll, dealing damage to opposing Pokémon it hits and throwing them. Press the icon again to cancel. |
Teleport Button | Teleports your Pokemon to a designated area after a set amount of time passes. Channeling Time: ~1 second |

Let us know in the comments!
These were the items used for the 2021 version of Snowball Battle in Shivre City. Some of them are returning for this year's rerun albeit with some changes.
Battle Items | Effects |
---|---|
Goal Zone Booster | Increases the shield and HP recovery effects of an ally goal zone for a short time when used within or near that goal zone. |
Cooldown: 1.5s |
Magnet Puller | Launches a magnet that pulls an opposing Pokémon toward the user when it hits and decreases that Pokémon's movement speed for a short time. Can be used multiple times until it hits succesfully. Cooldown: 1.5s |
Pokemon Propeller | Propels the user forward into a dash, shoving any opposing Pokémon it hits. |
Recovery Bomb | Creates a special zone centered on the user that rapidly spreads out and shoves nearby opposing Pokémon. Continually restores the HP of ally Pokémon in the area of effect and increases the melting speed of ally Pokémon in the area of effect that have been turned into snowmen. |
Repositioner | Switches the positions of the user and a Pokémon/ from the opposing team targeted by the user, decreasing the opposing Pokémon's movement speed for a short time. Also grants the user a shield for a short time. Can be used multiple times until it hits succesfully. Cooldown: 1.5s |
Returning Smoke | Shoots a puff of smoke that spreads out into a cloud if it hits an opposing Pokémon, returning all Pokémon from the opposing team in the area of effect to their base. Can be used multiple times until it hits succesfully. Cooldown: 1.5s |
Snowball | Has the user become a large snowball and roll, dealing damage to opposing Pokémon it hits and throwing them. Press the icon again to cancel. |
UNITE Ball Charger | Increases the goal-scoring speed charge to its max, adds 10 to total points, and increases the user's movement speed for a short time. |
Battle Item | Explanation |
---|---|
Teleport Button | Teleport Button is the best item added in the 2022 rerun of Snowball Battle. This enables multiple Pokemon to easily teleport anywhere on the map, reminiscent to Dragonite's UNITE Move. With how small Shivre City is, this item dominates the current pool of items! |
Battle Item | Explanation |
---|---|
Snowball | Snowball is the undisputed best battle item to use in the event. It gives great mobility and acts as a crowd control tool. It's reminiscent of Covet but is much easier to control. But above all, it's extremely fun to use! |
Electro Wall | Electro Wall is a great crowd control tool that can stun multiple enemies when plopped at the right place, and the right time! |
Gravity Smoke | Gravity Smoke is a great tool for controlling enemy movements, especially during teamfights. It's only downside is you won't use it as often compared to other battle items. |
Battle Item | Explanation |
---|---|
Repositioner | Repositioner keeps its CC capabilities against opponents, but loses the shield that comes with it. This negatively affected Repositioner's position in our tier list. |
Pokemon Propeller | Pokemon Propeller takes the last spot in the tier list simply because its function is outclassed by the other battle items. The dash that it provided proved too little of an impact during Snowball Battles. |
Battle Item | Explanation |
---|---|
Returning Smoke | Returning Smoke is just too good that we have to make a new tier for it! This item can turn the tides of any clash by returning your opponents straight back to their base. Reserve it for when teams are taking Articuno, when in a clash, or when your opponents are defending goal zones! |
Battle Item | Explanation |
---|---|
Snowball | Snowball is the undisputed best battle item to use in the event. It gives great mobility and acts as a crowd control tool. It's reminiscent of Covet but is much easier to control. But above all, it's extremely fun to use! |
Repositioner | Repositioner also takes the S tier but is only second to Snowball. What makes this item useful is the huge shield you get after changing positions, allowing you to survive or turn things around. |
UNITE Ball Charger | UNITE Ball Charger makes it so that you can instantly dunk points on your opponents goal zones. This is like a mini-Articuno that's very useful when you're holding a lot of points! |
Goal Zone Booster | Goal Zone Booster is extremely helpful when your main role is defending your own goal zone. Enemies who engage under your goal zone will have a hard time taking you down - enough for your team to go back and back you up after scoring! |
Battle Item | Explanation |
---|---|
Recovery Bomb | Recovery Bomb provides an AoE healing good for big fights. But its true usefulness is its ability to hasten the melting process of a snowman when a Pokemon dies. |
Gravity Smoke | Gravity Smoke is a great tool for controlling enemy movements, especially during teamfights. It's only downside is you won't use it as often compared to other battle items. |
Magnet Puller | Much like Gravity Smoke, this item pulls enemies and hinders them - except that it pulls the enemy towards you. For melee Pokemon that relies on enemy isolation, this tool is really good! |
Battle Item | Explanation |
---|---|
Pokemon Propeller | Pokemon Propeller takes the last spot in the tier list simply because its function is outclassed by the other battle items. |
Dragonite |
Dragonite is still extremely great to use in this game mode. Shivre City is a small map, much smaller than Remoat Stadium, so its UNITE move's range spans both goal zones! This Pokemon together with the item Teleport Button, you are going to be everywhere in this map!
For Dragonite's best builds, check out our guide here:
Dragonite Guide: Builds and Best Items
Venusaur | Blastoise | Charizard |
Pokemon with Area of Effect (AoE) moves shine the brightest in this event. Most players would get Snowballs that would knock up groups of Pokemon - pair that with AoE damage dealers and you get the perfect setup!
Crustle | Snorlax | Wigglytuff | Mr. Mime |
Defending your goal is one of the more important task in this event! Pure Defenders like Crustle and Snorlax and disabling machines like Wigglytuff and Mr. Mime greatly help in zoning and holding off scoring opponents!
Greninja | Mew | Urshifu | Tsareena |
Aside from defending the goal zone, you can effectively render opponents useless by dishing tons of damage! When they respawn after being turned into a snowman, you can burst them down immediately!
This event is a special game mode for Shivre City! The rules for this event is the same as for Shivre City - the only difference being you are not allowed to equip Battle Items at the start but instead get unique battle items from wild Delibirds all over the map!
To see the rules for normal Shivre City Quick Match, check out this article:
Shivre City Map and Rules
When you are defeated and turned into a snowman, press Jump to hop a short distance and reposition your snowman. This will enable you to change position if you're at a very bad spot! It has a limit though - you can only Jump before you respawn as a Pokemon.
Defeated opponents in this game mode will turn into snowmen, rendering them unable to act for a short amount of time. Be careful, opponents will respawn at the snowman's spot, will be at full health, and their move cooldowns will be reset after they come back from being a snowman! Think of it as if enemies don't respawn in base but on where their snowmen were!
You can opt to play against CPU Opponents to complete this event easier and faster! It will count towards rewards completion!
Match Types:
CPU, Random, and Friendly Match
