The Ballista Banner Tactician Mercenary build for endgame features a hybrid playstyle between the new Mortar Cannon and Sceptre spells such as Fulmination, Mana Drain, and Frost Bomb.

For your spell playstyle, equip the Lifesprig unique wand to gain access to Mana Drain for sustaining your mana pool. Then, try to roll a Sceptre with the Aura Skills have increased Magnitudes from the Perfect Essence of Command to scale up your Banners and allow you to run more supportive auras such as Elemental Weakness and Temporal Chains.
Try to get a Siege Crossbow that can focus on stacking Physical Damage as usual while also getting Attack Speed and Level of All Attack Skills from your essences when crafting this weapon. Roll for the Grenade Damage and Duration desecrate modifier from the Well of Souls as this will give you a huge damage boost.
Make sure your Constricting Command unique helmet has at least 5 Fewer enemies to be Surrounded for the consistent bonus damage, attack speed, and movement speed in your Passive tree. Then, focus on stacking armor and reaching the 75% resistance cap for all elemental resistances to counteract damage over time effects that can easily take you down.
As for your Accessories, stack Physical Damage on your Breach Ring and use Idol of Uldurn to allow you to summon up to three Mortar Cannons for extra damage. Doedre's Damning is used for applying additional Curses but can be optional if you do not plan on running Temporal Chains.
Take note that you can replace the Breach Ring with an Unset Ring to help you equip the Dread Banner persistent skill for more survivability in endgame content.

As usual, your Runes should consist of Greater Iron Rune for your weapon so you can maximize your Physical Damage, and Greater Body Rune on your Helm for the additional maximum life.
Additionally, your Gloves should have The Greatwolf's Rune of Claws for the added Physical Damage to your attacks to maximize your damage output.

This Ballista Banner Tactician build does not need any Charms to take on endgame and Pinnacle content. We do have a personal recommendation for equipping Thawing Charm and Antidote Charm as various enemies in endgame content are capable of inflicting Freeze and Poison that can easily kill you when you have zero resistances. Equip a Golden Charm to further help increase Rare Item drops as you continue farming maps.
As for Belts, we recommend getting the Utility Belt to provide you with a partial instant recovery from life flasks and more maximum life for survivability.

Your main skills consist of using Mortar Cannon to blanket the field with Cluster Grenades for fast clearing endgame maps. We use Mana Drain to offset the large mana consumption of summoning Mortar Cannons, while your Frost Bomb needs to be at least level 18 together with your Curses to completely benefit from the elemental exposure.
As for your Persistent skills, you will mainly be using War Banner and Defiance Banner for both offensive and defensive boosts. Wind Dancer will be your failsafe in case your get surrounded, while Blasphemy allows you to dual-cast Curses when you have the Idol of Uldurn equipped to enable better elemental exposure.
Make sure to equip at least 10 Green and 10 Red support gems since we are using the Gem Enthusiast notable passive.

Your notable passives consist of Projectile, AoE, and Elemental Damage, as well as taking Armor and Evasion Rating nodes that can help you survive longer in high tier maps. Make sure to get Gem Enthusiast since this is an important notable passive for your Support Gem setup that gives maximum life and movement speed.
On the other hand, the Ascendancy passive nodes for this build prioritizes the use of A Solid Plan to enable more persistent skills, and Suppressing Fire to easily pin enemies in high tier maps. Lastly, your remaining Ascendancy Points can go for Right Where We Want Them so your Pinned enemies are basically stunned, and Whoever Pays Best for a more Banner-focused setup to further boost your Mortar Cannons.

Try to find a From Nothing Diamond that has the Blood Magic keystone passive so you can make use of Prism Guard for the additional Elemental Damage scaling from Armor, and Ancestral Alacrity for your Ballistas.
Since we are using the Constricting Command unique helmet, slot in a Time-Lost Sapphire with an increased Area of Effect modifier for the nearby notable passives.
For general use, you will need to keep your Mortar Cannons and Banners active while also casting Mana Drain in case you run out of mana. The rotation is as follows:

Barrage Ready a volley of arrows or spears, Empowering your next Bow or Projectile Spear Attack to repeat multiple times. Consumes your Frenzy Charges on use to add additional repeats.
Snipe Channel to charge up your bow before releasing a powerful shot. Releasing the moment you fully charge causes the arrow to explode on impact for a guaranteed Critical Hit.
Sniper's Mark Marks a target. The next Critical Hit the target receives consumes the Mark to deal extra damage and grant you a Frenzy Charge.

Dread Banner While active, killing enemies with Attacks or standing near a Unique enemy generates Valour. using this skill consumes its Valour to place an Inspiring Banner with an Aura that grants you and nearby allies Stun Threshold, Elemental Ailment Threshold, and Flask charges while the Banner lasts. The Banner cannot gain Valour while placed, and you cannot place a Banner while you already have a banner placed.
Tame Beast Conjure Azmeri wisps to engulf a Rare Beast for a duration, Hindering them. If you defeat the Beast while it is engulfed in wisps, it will be captured by this gem, transforming the gem to instead allow you to summon the Beast as a Reviving Companion.
Mirage Archer While active, dodge rolling will create a Mirage that uses socketed ranged Attacks for a short duration, then vanish. You cannot create another Mirage while one exists, or for a short time after one vanishes. Dodge rolling while you are unable to create a new Mirage will restart this timer.

Herald of Thunder While active, killing Shocked enemies with Attack damage, will cause subsequent Attack hits to release lightning bolts which deals Attack damage to all surrounding enemies.
Stormcaller Arrow Fires an arrow that embeds where it lands for a short duration. At the end of the duration, a Lightning bolt strikes the arrow, disintegrating it and damaging enemies with a high chance to Shock.
Voltaic Mark Marks a target, making them more susceptible to being Shocked. When the Marked target dies, a Lightning nova erupts from their corpse. This nova does not use your Weapon Damage, and instead uses its own base Attack Damage.
