How to Parry in Path of Exile 2

Equip a Buckler

Path of Exile 2 - How to Parry Equip Buckler
To start parrying, you’ll need a Buckler equipped, which comes with the Parry skill. Once you have it, add the Parry skill to your quickbar for easy access during combat.

Hold to Parry in Battle

Once in combat, hold down the Parry skill to prepare for the next incoming attack.

The moment an enemy's Strike or Projectile comes within range, your Buckler will automatically block the hit, and you'll retaliate with a swift sweep, causing enemies to take increased Attack damage for a short period.

Parry Effects

Parry Effects

Parry Blocks the Incoming Hit

The Parry skill blocks the incoming attack, and this counts as Blocking for any passives or effects related to blocking. You can even parry ranged projectiles, as long as they're close enough.

Parried Enemies Receive the Parried Debuff

After a successful parry, the parried enemy receives the Parried Debuff that makes them receive increased Attack damage for a short duration, giving you a window to deal significant damage.

Empowered Effects from Consuming the Parried Debuff

Path of Exile 2 - How to Parry Fangs of Frost

Certain skills or effects can consume the Parried Debuff, triggering an empowered effect. For example, Disengage and Fangs of Frost can use this debuff to enhance their effects, making your counterattacks even more devastating.

Susceptible to AoE Hits

Remember, Area of Effect Hits cannot be parried since they are neither Strikes nor Projectiles. Be ready to handle these by evading.

Heavy Stun Buildup

Each parry builds Heavy Stun Buildup, so while you can’t evade the hit itself, Evasion can help you avoid the Heavy Stun buildup.
