Class and Ascendancy Selection

Path of Exile 2 (PoE 2) 2 Ascendancy Classes during Early Access

The class you choose for your character at the beginning of the game can never be changed after you start. The same goes when choosing an Ascendancy Class, there is no way to change ascendancies right now during Early Access.

Socketing Runes and Soul Cores

For Slotting Runes

Socketing equipment with Runes and Soul Cores is also a permanent decision. You won't be able to remove or replace the socketed rune or soul core even if you salvage or disenchant the item.

Salvaging gear cannot be undone causing you to lose the salvaged items forever. Be careful when mass salvaging a lot of your stuff so that you won't accidentally salvage the ones that you want to use.

Permanent Bonuses and Unlocks

Bonus How to Get
Maximum Spirit From optional bosses:
・The King in the Mists in Act 1.
・Ignagduk, the Bog Witch in Act 3 - Normal and Cruel Difficulty.
Maximum Life From the optional boss:
Candlemass, the Living Rite in Act 1 - Normal and Cruel Difficulty.
Weapon Set Passive Skill Points From optional bosses:
・Crowbell in Act 1.
・Kabala in Act 2.
・Mighty Silverfist in Act 3.
From side quests:
・The Lost Lute in Act 1.
・Tradition's Toll in Act 2.
+10% Resistances From optional bosses:
・Beira of the Rotten Pack in Act 1.
・Sisters of Garukhan in Act 2.
・Blackjaw, the Remnant in Act 3.
Other Bonuses From the Ancient Vows quest in Act 2, a choice between:
・30% Increased Charm Charges Gained
・15% Mana Recovery from Flasks
From the The Slithering Dead quest in Act 3, a choice between:
・25% Increased Stun Threshold
・30% Increased Elemental Ailment Threshold
・25% Increased Mana Regeneration Rate

Permanent bonuses such as extra Spirit, Weapon Set Skill Points, maximum Life, Resistances, and other stats can be earned as rewards from Quests and/or defeating certain optional Bosses. These objectives are typically not part of the main questline so you'll have to go out of your way to find them.

Unlocking the Salvage and Reforging Bench

The Salvage Bench can only be unlocked after completing the Finding the Forge side quest in Act 1 while the Reforging Bench is unlocked after the Treasures of Utzaal side quest in Act 3.

Missable Quests

Travel to Trial of the Sekhemas

There are certain quests that cannot be tracked and do not appear in the quest log. These include the Trial of the Sekhemas and the Trial of Chaos which are really important to do for the progression of your character.
