4. Add Quality to Items

Upgrade Item Rarity

With crafting, players can increase the rarity of their equipment, whether it be converting a normal item into a magic item or a magic item into a rare item. Doing so increases the overall stats of the item, making it more powerful and increasing the maximum amount of modifiers equipment can have.

Note that some currencies for upgrading item rarity are obtained while exploring and accomplishing the Atlas of Worlds. For example, Players can acquire Essences and Greater Essences by defeating Solidified Crystalline Corruptions while exploring Atlas Maps.

Add, Remove, or Change Modifiers

With crafting, players can also add, remove, or change modifiers on their items and equipment, allowing the latter to cater to a specific build or use case the former may have in mind.

Amount of Modifiers Tied to Item Rarity and Type

As mentioned, the amount of (explicit) modifiers items and equipment can have depends on their rarity. For example, normal items can't have modifiers, magic items can have up to two, and rare items can have up to six.

Item or equipment type may also affect the number of modifiers that can be added, with equipment generally having up to six modifiers at max rarity and items like Waystones having up to two modifiers.

Add Sockets to Equipment

Equipment Sockets

With crafting, players can also add sockets to their equipment. These sockets can then be inserted with Runes, which add additional modifiers to socketed equipment. Two-handed weapons and armor can have two sockets, while one-handed weapons, shoes, helmets, and gloves can only have one socket.

Add Quality to Items

Catalyst

Crafting also allows players to a quality item stat on their equipment. The Quality item stat increases an item's signature stat by up to 20%, at least in most cases.

For example, if the signature stat of a weapon item is its physical attack stat, increasing its quality stat by 15% will also increase its physical attack stat by the same percentage.
