Combine Items to Craft New Ones

Recombination
The Recombinator is a crafting tool that uses Artifact currency items from Expedition to potentially combine two items with your desired modifiers.

Enter Two Items of the Same Class

Path of Exile 2 - Recombinator Items Must be the Same Item Class

The Recombinator can only combine two items of the same item class. This means One-handed Mace can only be recombined with another One-handed Mace and the same would be true for any other item class.

However, the item base type within the item class can be different. For example, a Solar Amulet and a Stellar Amulet can be recombined into one or the other base type at random.

Select Modifiers to Inherit

Recombination Result

When using Recombination, you can select modifiers from the existing items for the resulting item to inherit. This is best used to get 2 rare and high-tier modifiers on a single item, then proceed on getting the easier modifiers with Exalted or Chaos Orbs.

Be careful, however, you should take note that selecting more powerful and rarer mods will lower the odds of a successful craft. Additionally, trying to get more than two modifiers will drastically reduce the success chance of the recombination. Both items used will be destroyed when recombination is unsuccessful.

Spend Artifacts to Recombine

Artifact Exchange

You will need to spend Artifacts acquired from to use Recombination. The cost of recombining items will vary depending on the rarity of modifiers you have selected for the new item.

Artifacts are also used to exchange for items such as weapons and accessories with certain NPCs.
