Know which items are best to sell, salvage or disenchant in Path of Exile 2 (PoE 2). Read to see whether or not you should sell, salvage or disenchant your equipment, and how to do them!
List of Contents
We recommend selling all Magic (Blue) items or lower, as their value goes way down the farther you get into the game. Selling these items can give you money to spend for Skill Respecs.
It's okay to sell any and all equipment if you are critically low on Gold, as you need this currency to purchase basic things in-game.
Below are a list of ways you can spend your Gold, however we recommend only Skill Respecs and purchasing new gear from Vendors.
| Ways to Spend Gold | |
|---|---|
| Gambling | Some specific vendors will allow you to gamble, wherein you can pick a specific equipment type and then get a random item from that pool. |
| Skill Respec | You can respec and reset the Skill points you used on Passives of your choice. |
| Currency Exchange | In exchange for a small gold fee, you can exchange currencies with other players. This should be done when you are missing specific currency items for a piece of equipment! |
Best Ways to Farm and Spend Gold
| Currency | Use |
|---|---|
| Armourer's Scrap | Increases Armor Quality |
| Blacksmith's Whetstone | Increases Weapon Quality |
| Arcanist's Etcher | Increases Weapon Quality |
Salvaging equipment with Quality prefixes gives you items that can upgrade the Quality of your weapons and armor. For example, salvaging Superior armor gets you Armourer's Scrap, which you can use to increase the effectiveness of your armor.

Salvaging socketed items gives you Artificer's Shards, which you can then turn into an Artificer's Orb, which can add Rune sockets to weapons or armor.
Sockets Explained
Disenchanting equipment rewards you with orbs that allow you to transmute mods into your equipment, providing unique passives to play around with. If you are looking for ways to enhance your current gear, you can choose to disenchant your extra equipment for some Currency Items.
| Item Rarity | Disenchants Into |
|---|---|
| Magic Items | Transmutation Shard Collect 10 to form Orb of Transmutation |
| Rare Items | Regal Shard Collect 10 to form Regal Orb |

You can sell your items directly to NPC Vendors in towns like Una in Clearfell Encampment, and you will receive Gold in return.

You can also list your items for sale on the PoE2 Trade Site, where other players can pay for your items using Orbs as currency.
Trading Guide: How to Trade

Every major town will have its own Salvage Bench. In order to Salvage items, simply interact with the Salvage Bench, select the hammer icon, and click on the item in your inventory that you wish to salvage.

You can unlock the Salvage Bench after completing the quest Finding the Forge in Act 1, wherein you give Renly his tools back.
Finding the Forge Walkthrough

You can disenchant your items at NPC Vendors in towns like Una in Clearfell Encampment. Note that disenchanting items will destroy them, and place the new materials straight into your inventory.
