How to Beat Zarokh, the Temporal

Tips on Beating Zarokh, the Temporal

Collect the Hourglasses in the Time Stop Phase

Once Zarokh’s Life drops below around 60%, it will start using the Time Stop phase. Zarokh summons hourglasses around the arena, and you must collect all of them within a limited time.

Your action speed will be heavily reduced during this phase, making it progressively harder to move. Failing to collect the hourglasses results in instant death and a failed run.

High Movement Speed or a Movement Skill Is Heavily Recommended

Movement Speed greatly increases the chances to complete this phase due to the increasing action speed slow debuff you get. Movement Skills such as Blink, Leap Slam, or Shield Charge may also be used, though not required.

Focus on Dodging the Orbs

Throughout the fight, Zarokh will summon a variety of orbs that move throughout the area and damage you upon contact. Try to assess safe spots to move to and dodge roll through orbs you think cannot be easily escaped from.

Stay at the Arena's Corners to Avoid the Spinning Lightning Attack

There is an attack wherein Zarokh summons stationary orbs throughout the area that act like mines. The boss then positions himself in the middle, uses a beam of lightning, and starts spinning around. Position yourself somewhere you can dodge roll through the lightning and not hit any of the orbs.

Consider Skills That Help in Long Fights

Skill Effect
Path of Exile 2 - AttritionAttrition While active, causes you to deal more Hit damage to Rare and Unique enemies the longer you've been fighting them, and gain Culling Strike against them once you've been fighting them for long enough.
Path of Exile 2 - Alchemis Alchemist's Boon While active, grants you Flask Charges passively and causes Life and Mana recovery from your Flasks to also apply to Allies in your presence.

Zarokh has one of the largest Maximum Life pools among bosses, making the fight a prolonged battle. Over time, you may run out of resources like flask charges. Above are recommended skills to sustain your damage output and survivability:

Attrition grants and increasing damage buff to enemies that you've been fighting, while Alchemist's Boon passively generates flask charges so you don't run out of Life and Mana flask charges.

Use Trial of the Sekhemas Mechanics to Your Advantage

Use several Trial of Sekhemas mechanics to your advantage to make your fight with Ashar, the Sand Mother, easier! Here's a couple Trial of the Sekhema tips below:

Use Honour Resistance Relics With Other Good Modifiers

Path of Exile 2 - Use Honour Resistance Relics

Relics are items that give you passive bonuses for a whole run. The best ones to use for your runs are ones with as much Honour Resistance. This stat, when capped at around 75% can increase your effective Honour by up to 400%!

Other modifiers you might want to get is Bosses Take Increased Damage, Movement Speed, Maximum Honour, and Increased Honour Restored.

Get the Good Boons and Avoid the Bad Afflictions

Best Boons to Get Afflictions to Avoid
・ Ornate Dagger
50% More Damage
・ Sanguine Vial
30% Less Monster Life
・ Viscous Ichor
15% Reduced Monster Action Speed
・ Hare Foot
40% increased Movement Speed
・ Blunt Sword
40% Less Damage
・ Spiker Shell
30% Reduced Monster Life
・ Any Affliction that Reduces or Removes any Defence Type

Success in the Trial of Sekhemas and defeating Ashar often hinges on selecting strong Boons and steering clear of debilitating Afflictions. Always review potential afflictions and strategize accordingly when selecting rooms in the Trial of Sekhemas to ensure a smoother run.

or
“Eternity awaits you.”
Backtrack Explosion

Zarokh creates a large trap with a clock hand. Once the hand reaches the 12 o’clock position, you’re teleported to the center. Dodge out of the initial explosion’s radius to avoid the follow-up hit, which deals significant damage and inflicts Armor Break.
