This is a tier list to all the available classes for the Early Access of Path of Exile 2 (POE 2). The classes are ranked by several criteria such as clear speed, combat utility, dps, and more to gauge which are the best classes in the game.
Attention | This tierlist is updated for the early access and is in early development. This tier list will continuously update and is currently done right after completing the 3 base acts. |

This is the first variant for Path of Exile 2's early access tier list. Mercenary stays winning with its high amount of damage to clear the early game enemies and their low health pools. It can also convert the majority of its damage to elemental to target enemy boss' weaknesses.
Warrior is an ideal A tier character due to its tankiness and ability to survive enemy swarm. Ranger is another strong class that surpassed our expectations with its strong AoE attacks and high mobility. Lastly, the Sorceress also makes it to A tier with its destructive potential and multiple skill combinations that amplify her skills to greater heights.
The weaker classes for the early game belongs to the Monk and Witch. Monk struggles with its low durability and lack of skill options that makes it cumbersome to play. Witch on the otherhand, is incapable of maximizing its potential due to the extreme scarcity of spirit in the early game that prevents the Witch from summoning hordes of minions.
Overall, there's still more to be tested for the Ascendancies but based on our initial testing, the Gemling Legionnaire, Deadeye, Stormweaver stands as the top clear winners among all the existing Ascendancy classes thanks to their clear stat and skill advantages that enhance their base class.
On the flipside, Titan, Chronomancer, and Acolyte of Chayula are currently underperforming due to the lack of synergy or hyper customization needed to allow its base class to perform well together with the new abilities you unlock from these specific ascendancies. This tierlist will further be updated once we progress more through the Cruel difficulty of the game as well as the Atlas.
Clear Speed | Characters that can clear mobs much easier than other classes are naturally ranked higher. These are also based on footages that are currently available from the official Path of Exile 2 channel and is highly speculative. |
---|---|
Complexity | Classes that are much simpler to play than other classes are ranked higher than other classes. While comboing your skills and using complex combos are great, simple one to two button classes will be more efficient to pilot in the long run. |
Ease of Use | Classes that are much easier to use than other classes are ranked higher. This is not just for its skills but for everything the class has to offer such as its durability making it last longer in fight and able to make more mistakes than other classes as well as the systems it offers that makes the class easy to pick up for new players. |

Overall, each class in the game have their own unique feel and playstyle that fits a multitude of players. Players that enjoy playing shooter games that wants to hop into Path of Exile 2 will enjoy the Mercenary and its crossbow and ammo gameplay while players that love hyper mobile classes will enjoy classes like the Monk that can blitz through multiple units in a short span of time.
So while there are multiple classes in the game, we highly recommend sticking to the class that you'll find the most fun rather than which class may seem like the strongest class among the roster.
