Corrupted Nexus is an atlas mechanic in Path of Exile 2 (PoE 2), found at the heart of regions consumed by the Beast’s corruption. Learn how to find Corrupted Nexuses, what Corrupted Nexus are, and the rewards you can obtain for clearing them!
Tips to Find a Corrupted Nexus |
---|
|
Corrupted Nexuses only spawn within Corrupted Biomes—clusters of corrupted maps on the Atlas. These aren’t standalone biomes but large zones with corrupted map nodes. When you find the edge of one, explore deeper to reveal more of the area. If no Corrupted Nexus is visible nearby, move on to search another corrupted region.
Corrupted Nexuses appear as faint, broken towers with corrupted tentacles in the fog of the Atlas map. While exploring and clearing maps, scan the surrounding fog—not just for Tower maps, but also for these hidden structures. They’re harder to spot than Towers, so keep an eye out for their distinct shape.

The Corrupted Nexus is found at the heart of corrupted regions across the Atlas. These Maps are tainted by the influence of the Beast, and as players progress toward the Nexus, they'll see the corruption spilling out from slain enemies, forming dangerous amalgamations of flesh and shadow.
These maps aren't just visually darker — they're deadlier. With revamped monster behavior and improved map modifiers, Corrupted Maps offer greater challenge and greater rewards than ever before.
Mapping Guide and List of Atlas Maps
Upon reaching the Nexus, your goal is simple: cleanse the corruption at its source. But first, you must defeat all Rares in the area. Doing so summons one of three terrifying bosses, each a living manifestation of corruption itself.
Once defeated, Doryani appears to purge the Nexus, leaving behind a glowing core of raw power. The corrupted energy from the slain boss coalesces into a Crystalline Shard and cleanses all the remaining Corrupted Maps around the Nexus.
If you fail a Corrupted Nexus map, you won’t get another shot at that Nexus in that region. The rest of the region stays open, but the Nexus becomes inaccessible.
It's best to only use Waystones with the minimum requirement of four modifiers to minimize the risk of dying in the Nexus. You should also be careful of the modifiers on the Waystones you use as well, as mods such as Decreased Elemental Resistances can lead to very deadly situations.

Atlas Passive Skill Points | Unlock Cleansed Maps |
Successfully cleansing a Corrupted Nexus rewards you with a Crystalline Shard of Knowledge, a valuable resource that grants Atlas Passive Skill Points.
In addition, defeating the Nexus boss purifies nearby Corrupted Maps, turning them into Cleansed Maps — less punishing but more rewarding versions of their corrupted counterparts.
