Path of Exile 2 (PoE 2) Fast Traveling to Checkpoints

What is the Overlay Map?

Shows the Current Layout of the Area

The Overlay Map displays current layout of the map you're in. Going to an area the first time won't show you the full layout, and you'll need to fully explore it to reveal the complete map. Revisiting an area will cause you to lose the revealed area after some time passes.

This is especially useful when clearing atlas maps. For example, it's best to get the reveal the full layout on maps with Breaches. This way, you won't risk getting lost while killing enemies left and right as you go. It'd be bad if you were to get cornered and surrounded by enemies in a dead end.

Opening the Overlay Maps Show All Modifiers on Endgame Maps

During atlas maps, opening the overlay map also shows the modifiers affecting the map you're on. These include both prefixes and suffixes of waystones and precursor tablets.
