Obtain Uncut Spirit Gem

Obtain an Uncut Spirit Gem from containers or killing monsters. Players must obtain Uncut Spirit Gems that has an equal or higher level than the tier of their desired Persistent Buff (e.g., Tier 4 Persistent Buffs require Level 4+ Uncut Spirit Gems).

Choose and Engrave Persistent Buff

Once obtained, right click or use the Uncut Spirit Gem, choose a persistent buff or skill from the Gemcutting menu, and press Engrave. You will obtain a Persistent Skill Gem with the chosen desired Persistent Buff.

Ensure that you have enough spirit to equip and activate the Persistent Buff. You can check this by hovering over the mana indicator or checking the character profile.

Open the skills panel by pressing the G key. Afterward, insert the Cut Persistent Skill Gem into one of the skill slots and right-click the square skill icon to activate it. A white, rotating indicator appears on the skill icon once activated.

Use Support Gems on Persistent Buffs

You can also add Support Gems into a Persistent Buff's support gem slots. While some Support Gems do not require additional Spirit to equip, most compatible ones do (e.g., Cannibalism costs 15 more Spirit to use).

However, while some Support Gems with no Spirit reservation requirement can be equipped on Persistent Buffs, most, if not all, Support Gems that require Spirit to use cannot be slotted on normal skill gems.
