How to Beat The King in the Mists

Tips on The King in the Mists

Understand the “Green Light, Red Light” Mechanic

Ritual Mechanic
Path of Exile 2 - Ritual of Meditation Ritual of Meditation Effect: Stop moving or you will be imprisoned.
Path of Exile 2 - Ritual of Dance Ritual of Dance Effect: Keep moving or you will be imprisoned.

The King in the Mists fight has a lot of ground degen effects which becomes much more challenging with the Ritual of Meditation and Ritual of Dance debuffs which imprisons you if you fail the mechanic.

When affected by the Ritual of Meditation, take a moment to look for a safe spot to go to and stay still until the debuff expires. However, when affected by the Ritual of Meditation you have to keep moving until the timer expires to avoid being imprisoned.

Destroy the Mystic Fetishes and Affliction Totems

During the first phase of the fight, the King in the Mists will summon Mystic Fetishes and Affliction Totems which either summons various Ritual hazards or continuously inflict damage over time effects. You should destroy these totems as soon as possible to stop their effects.

Do Not Stay on the Platforms

There are platforms during the first phase where you can avoid a lot of pressure and damage. However, staying here gives you the stacking Portent Vapors which increases damage you take for a significant amount of time.

You can go to these platforms if you plan on destroying the Mystic Fetishes, but you would have to do it as fast as possible.

Follow the Wisps During the Maze

During the transition phase between Phase 1 & 2, you'll be sent to a maze where a swarm of insects that deals lethal damage races you to the exit. Follow the glowing wisps in this maze to find the exit.
