Desecrated Modifiers are part of the Abyss crafting system in Path of Exile (PoE) 2, a new crafting system introduced in the Third Edict update. Find out what Desecrated and Bears the Mark of the Abysal Lord modifiers do, what Abyssal Bones are, and how to reveal them in this guide.
List of Contents

Introduced in the Rise of the Abyssal League, items can now be Desecrated using Abyssal Bones, adding a Desecrated Modifier that initially has no effect.
However, this modifier can be revealed at the Well of Souls, where you can choose one of three offered affixes to replace the Desecrated Modifier. This system adds another layer of gear crafting from just the usual Exalt slam.
Desecrated modifiers are exclusive to the Abyss mechanic and are most commonly applied by using Abyssal Bones on an item. Abyssal Bones can be obtained from chests, enemies, and bosses encountered during Abyss encounters.

The Essence of the Abyss replaces an item’s modifier with the Mark of the Abyssal Lord, allowing it to be Desecrated. Once Desecrated, the Mark of the Abyssal Lord is converted into a high-tier Desecrated Modifier, which can then be revealed for stronger modifier options.

To reveal the Desecrated Modifier, players must reach the Well of Souls in Act II. After unlocking the Well of Souls, players can freely teleport to this area from the Waypoint.
