How to Open Social Menu | J on Keyboard Hold Start or Select button on Controller |

Keyboard users can open the Social Menu by pressing J, while controller users can access it by holding Start/Select to open a radial menu leading to other menu tabs or through the Pause Menu.
You can play co-op by inviting other players to your party or accepting party invitations from other players. Invite players into your party by pressing right click on a player in towns, guild members, or friends list and select the Invite to Party option.
Your party can hold a maximum of up to 6 players, with bosses and loot drops scaling accordingly.
You can play with other people across different platforms allowing you to trade and interact with a larger player count. This is advantageous for the game's multiplayer and economy as there are more people to play and trade with.
For couch co-op to successfully work, another controller must be connected to or paired with the gaming console. You can add a separate account or make a guest account to play couch-coop.
Keep in mind that only 2 players are allowed to play via couch co-op if you wish to play with your friends.
PS5 players require a PlayStation Plus subscription while Xbox players require a subscription to Xbox Game Pass. You cannot play the game unless you subscribe to this service as Path of Exile is an online only game.
For PC players, you can play online multiplayer without a subscription.
Bosses become significantly more difficult and drop better loot when playing in co-op. In the early to mid game where players still swap around items and equipment, the loot drops may not be worth the extra boss difficulty especially if players are of the same level.
However, synergizing with other players may make leveling and quest progression easier, especially against difficult bosses in Cruel Mode.
