You can find the second and third tier of the Support Gems as you progress longer into the game. The second tier can start dropping in the earlier stages of Act 3. The third tier can start dropping in the later stages of the Cruel Mode Act 2.
Full Campaign Walkthrough and All Acts
Support Gems are supplementary gems primarily used to provide additional unique effects to Skill Gems. You can equip a total of 5 support gem per skill.
Support gems are slotted into attack gems to add new effects to your skills. However, they require matching tags with the attack gem to work. Additionally, they need a stat requirement of 5, which can be either Strength, Dexterity, or Intelligence. The interaction between attack and support gems creates unique effects, enhancing your skills in various ways.
