How to Beat Candlemass, the Living Rite

Wait for the Spin Before Dodging the Unblockable

Candlemass’s most devastating attack is its unblockable slash. When it glows red and raises its sword, it’s preparing for this move. Stay calm and focus on its movements—wait for Candlemass to start spinning before Dodge Rolling to avoid the attack. Dodging too early will likely result in getting hit.

Stay Close to Avoid the Fire Barrage

Another one of Candlemass's high-threat moves is the fire barrage, which unleashes a massive area-of-effect attack in front of it. The safest spot during this attack is behind the boss. To position yourself effectively, stay close to Candlemass throughout the fight, and when it initiates the fire barrage, Dodge Roll behind it to evade the damage.

Moves	Details and Tips
Fire Barrage	Candlemass charges up for a moment before unleashing a barrage of projectiles that explode within a small area. How to Dodge: This attack can reach any part of the area, regardless of your current position. However, it is still recommended to position yourself to the side or behind the boss to be able to counterattack. It is also possible to dodge roll through a part of the attack if you do find yourself in the middle of it.
Flame Slash	Candlemass raises its weapon overhead, before spinning and releasing a projectile slash forward. How to Dodge: Once you see the boss raise its weapon, wait a beat before dodging to the side or through the attack. Keep in mind that the attack comes out a beat earlier later than you might think
Flamethrower	Candlemass condenses its power towards its mouth, glowing brightly, before breathing fire and following your general position. How to Dodge: Though the attack does follow your position, it moves rather slowly. Keep moving in one direction or dodge through the flames to avoid taking damage.
Jump Slash	When you are a considerable distance away, Candlemass quickly leaps toward your general direction, splitting the ground in front of it. How to Dodge: Time your dodge away and to the side from the boss once you see the boss about to jump.
Default Melee Attack	A series of melee swings that deal damage in front of it. How to Dodge: Position yourself to its sides or behind it to avoid taking damage. Use this opportunity to weave in your attacks.
