Idols are obtained by completing Azmerian Wisp challenges which are found in both the Campaign and Endgame.
Azmerian Wisps strengthen enemies they come into contact with, making encounters more difficult to deal with.

Idols can also be obtained by visiting the Currency Exchange NPC in every Act. Currency Exchange becomes available in Cruel Difficulty which is unlocked after completing Act 3 on Normal difficulty.
Idols are augment items, similar to Runes and Soul Cores, but can only be inserted into specific types of equipment.
