The Advanced Thaumaturgy Notable now grants a buff called Thaumaturgical Dynamism, which allows you to periodically generate a type of charge. The Gem Studded Notable has also been changed to grant a buff based on the colors of your socketed gems.

Listed above are the best Ascendancy skills for the Gemling Legionnaire. The Adaptive Capability node can help you equip almost every Skill Gem and Support Gem as long as it meets the attribute requirement with your highest stat, giving you access to a wide variety of builds.
Enhanced Effectiveness is the bread and butter for most Gemling Legionnaire builds due to the extremely large amount of stat bonuses it gives especially when you are stacking Attribute nodes.
Lastly, the Gem Studded node is also useful as it allows you to equip two Support Gems of the same kind in different skills, giving you more options to build around.
Gemling Legionnaire Ascendancy Mechanics
Focuses on Attribute Stacking
Gemling Legionnaires greatly benefit from stacking either one or two Attributes, allowing them to have a huge amount of Life with Strength, high Accuracy Rating with Dexterity, and a large mana pool with Intelligence.
Can Equip Gems Using One Attribute
In addition to Attribute stacking, Gemling Legionnaires are also capable of equipping almost every Gem available as long as your highest Attribute meets the requirement. This gives you a wider range of builds to create due to the large variety of Skills and Support Gems you can equip.
Can Enhance Gems with Quality
Gemling Legionnaires can also increase the Quality of their Skill Gems, reaping the benefits of their bonus modifiers. This can help you maximize the effects of your Skills while also negating the need for farming too much Gemcutter's Prism.
Affects Corrupted Skill Gems
Corrupted Skill Gems can also have their Quality increased by the Gemling Legionnaire passive nodes. This works even after you have corrupted a Skill since the increase in Quality is treated as a Global Modifier.
Gains Additional Skill Slots
With Integrated Efficiency, you are granted 3 additional Skill Slots which allows you to equip even more Skills that can help benefit your build. This makes Gemling Legionnaire the only class to have a total of 12 Skill Slots instead of the standard 9 Skill Slots.

Start as a Mercenary and complete an Ascension Trial to ascend into a Gemling Legionnaire. Completing an Ascension Trial will also give you the option to ascend into a Witchhunter.
