A Cavern Based Around Essence Mechanic
The Silent Cave is a shimmering underground crystal cavern filled with monsters imprisoned in Essences. And at the center of the cave, a powerful Map Boss lies trapped, waiting to be unleashed.
Mapping Guide and List of Atlas Maps
Power Up the Boss for Greater Rewards
Surrounding the boss are Rare monsters, each sealed in Essences. Defeating these foes upgrades their Essences into Greater Essences, which are then transferred to the final boss. This gives players a unique choice:
- Defeat fewer Rare monsters and keep the boss manageable, but miss out on extra rewards.
- Free and defeat more Rare monsters to stack powerful Essences onto the boss, making the final fight much harder — but much more rewarding.
The Silent Cave is all about risk and reward. Push too far, and the boss may become overwhelming. Play it too safe, and you may miss out on the best loot.
Corrupting Essences for Greater Power
Essences in the Silent Cave can also be corrupted with Vaal Orbs, introducing unpredictable outcomes. Corrupting an Essence can:
- Increase the number of Essences contained in a monster.
- Reroll all Essences of the same tier into new ones.
- Upgrade Essences into Greater Essences — even if they are already at their highest tier!
Silent Cave Rewards
Upgraded Essences
While Greater Essences are not exclusive to this map, the Silent Cave is one of the best places to farm a specific Greater Essence of your choosing. It's best to prioritize obtaining the most valuable Essences first, such as the Essence of Haste. For less desirable Essences, using Vaal Orbs can provide a chance at an upgrade, potentially turning them into more useful rewards.
