Use Higher Levels of Uncut Gems

Uncut Skill Gem	>	Skill Gems

Skills of all types can be leveled up by using an uncut gem of a higher level than your skill's current level and selecting your current skill to upgrade it. However, each level of uncut gem requires a certain player level and/or attribute (Strength, Dexterity, Intelligence).

Add More Skill Slots for More Combos

You acn increase your skill slots as a Gemling Legionnaire by unlocking the Integrated Efficiency ascendancy skill, or by equipping an item, such as the Honed Unset Ring, that has a modifier to add a skill slot.

Why Should You Level Up Skills?

Increase DPS

Leveling up skills will increase the damage output of the skills, at the cost of a higher mana cost or sometimes a higher cooldown duration. This is a must since mobs will have more resistances and will be tougher to kill as you progress in the game.
