Here are the best Companions to get in Path of Exile 2. Find out the best beasts to tame, where to find them, and the best modifiers to look for here.
![]() |
This list is based on early observations of the many possible monsters to tame as companions. We will update this list as we gather more information. |
List of Contents
Rank | Spectre |
---|---|
1 | Quadrilla |
2 | Diretusk Boar |
3 | Antlion Charger |
Quadrilla | |
---|---|
Location | Troubled Camp, Jungle Ruins Act 3 |
Skills and Traits | ・Enhanced Melee Strike range ・Increased Movement Speed ・Charges toward enemies |
The Quadrilla is currently one of the best early-game companions due to its mobility. You can find a guaranteed rare Quadrilla at the Troubled Camp in the Jungle Ruins during Act 3.
Since companions are usually best used to provide supportive auras, the Quadrilla shines for its high base movement speed. If the Quadrilla in Jungle Ruins spawn with unwanted modifiers, use the Respawn at Checkpoint option to reset and reroll its mods.
Diretusk Boar | |
---|---|
Location | Troubled Camp, Infested Barrens Act 3 |
Skills and Traits | ・Moderate Movement Speed ・Inflicts Bleeding |
Like the Quadrilla, the Diretusk Boar is another guaranteed rare monster that you can encounter at another Troubled Camp in the Infested Barren. This companion has moderate movement speed and can inflict bleeding on enemies.
Antlion Charger | |
---|---|
Location | Troubled Camp, Infested Barrens Act 3 |
Skills and Traits | ・ Slightly higher Armor ・ Rolls towards enemies |
You'll find the Antlion Charger on the same camp as the Diretusk Boar, making this camp and monster and easy target to farm for a good modifier. However, the Antlion Charger has a really low movement speed, so consider getting one that has the Haste Aura, Hasted or Shroudwalker modifier to help it traverse around maps.
Modifier | Effect |
---|---|
Haste Aura | Nearby allies will gain increased Movement Speed, Attack Speed, and Cast Speed. |
Temporal Bubble | Enemies within the bubble will have reduced Action Speed, reduced Cooldown Recovery Rate, and Debuffs on them will expire slower. |
Physical Damage Aura | Nearby allies will deal increased Physical Damage. |
Elemental Resistance Aura | Gain increased resistance to indicated Element. |
Elemental Trail | Leave a trail of Elemental Ground Effect (Shocked/Chilled/Burning) when moving. |
Temporary Invulnerability | Periodically makes you invulnerable for a time. |
These are the best companion affixes to aim for, offering the most impactful utility and synergy with most builds.
Modifier | Effect |
---|---|
All Damage Shocks/Chills/Ignites | Whenever the companion deals damage, there is always a chance to inflict the specified effect. |
Poison/Bleed on | Whenever the companion deals damage, there is always a chance to inflict the specified effect. |
Heals/Suppress Recovery | Companion will heal nearby allies and supress the health recovery of nearby enemies. |
Invulnerability Aura | Nearby allies will not take damage for a brief period with each pulse. |
Lightning Storm | Conjures Lightning Storms |
Hasted or Shroudwalker | Increases the movement speed of the companion and helps them move around to get closer to you more often. |
These secondary mods enhance survivability, speed, and utility, making your companion even more useful in various combat scenarios.
How to Farm Companions Early |
---|
Before farming companions, prepare a Tame Beast skill gem at level 9 or higher. Then travel to the Troubled Camps in Act 3, located in either Jungle Ruins or Infested Barrens. Activate the checkpoint inside the camp to make rerolling easier.
The Troubled Camps in Jungle Ruins and Infested Barrens both are great locations to farm a good companion. While the one Jungle Ruins will have the better monster base, the Quadrilla, the one in Infested Barrens will have two rare monsters which gives you more mod variety per reset.
Once you locate the rare monsters, inspect their modifiers under their health bars. Look for strong support effects like Haste or Resistance Aura. These directly empower your character in combat.
If the monster doesn’t have ideal modifiers, don’t kill it. Pause the game and select Respawn at Checkpoint to reload the area and reroll the rare monster’s affixes.
When a rare monster spawns with the modifiers you want, use the Tame Beast skill on it and defeat it. This will change your Tame Beast skill into a skill that summons your newly tamed companion instead.
Priority | Support Gem | Effect |
---|---|---|

Minions created by Supported Skills take a portion of Hit Damage you would otherwise have taken, but have lowered maximum Life. |
2 |

Causes supported Minions to fight on for a short duration before dying when they are fatally wounded . |
3 |

Supported Minions are granted less damage taken but making them deal less damage. |
For any non-Minion builds, it's best to have support gems in your companion that will help it survive and decrease the down time that they area dead. Last Gasp helps your minion fight for a couple more seconds after losing all its life. Meat Shield is another good support, which decreases the damage they take but also the damage they deal.
Loyalty is another very good support gem. This makes it so that 10% of the damage you take from hits are taken from your companion's life instead of yours.
