This is a guide for The Search, an Act 4 Main Quest in Path of Exile 2 (PoE 2). Learn more about how to unlock The Search, complete its objectives, and its quest rewards here!

How to Unlock The Search
Travel to Kingsmarch
You can unlock The Search by completing Legacy of the Vaal. Talk to Doryani near the Gateway in Utzaal then in the Ziggurat Encampment. From there, teleport directly to Kingsmarch by talking to Alva.
The Search Objectives
Go to Kingsmarch
After the events of Act 3, talk to Doryani near the Gateway in Utzaal. This will prompt your character to return to Ziggurat Encampment. Talk to Doryani and Alva to teleport straight to Kingsmarch.
Talk to Makoru and Set Sail
Once you are in Kingsmarch, proceed further into the area to unlock a ship that grants you passage to different islands. From here, you must look for a Weapon Piece at the end of the following islands: Abandoned Prison, and Shrike Island.
Sail to the Abandoned Prison
Sail to the Abandoned Prison next and look for the entrance to Solitary Confinement, where you must defeat The Prisoner. Upon defeating the boss, you will obtain a Weapon Piece.
There are waves of water that periodically crash into this area, significantly slowing down your movement. Make sure to take this into account when facing enemy packs!
The Prisoner Ballista Mechanic
Once you find the Solitary Confinement area, you will encounter The Prisoner boss at the end. When the boss drops down to certain health thresholds, he will be unable to move for a while and you must use the nearby Ballistas to deal further damage.
It is important to note that The Prisoner takes nearly zero damage during this period and you must use the Ballistas. Use the Ballistas three times over the course of the fight to defeat him.
Abandoned Prison Quest Walkthrough
Sail to the Shrike Island
Lastly, go through Shrike Island until you find a long, narrow bridge leading to the Scourge of the Skies. Upon its defeat, the boss will drop the final Weapon Piece you are looking for.
On your way to the boss, you will find another narrow pathway that leads to a Corpse Nest with a Torn Map Piece. This is also important for the Forgotten Bounty Quest.
Shrike Island Quest Walkthrough
Go Through Arastas
Next, sail to Arastas then go to the church nearby. Talk to Missionary Lorandis then follow him inside the church. After a while, destroy the forcefield outside the church by attacking it. Defeat all enemies in your way and look for the entrance to The Excavation.
Defeat Torvian, Hand of the Saviour
To unlock The Excavation, you must first defeat Torvian, Hand of the Saviour. Check out our boss guide below for more info on how to defeat him!
Torvian, Hand of the Saviour Boss Guide
Enter The Excavation
Enter The Excavation and look for a checkpoint with a circular arena nearby. Here, you will find Kanu and the First Herald. You must defeat Benedictus, First Herald of Utopia to unlock the Excavated Site, where The Hooded One will reforge the Weapon.
Sail to Ngakanu and Enter the Heart of the Tribe
Tavakai will steal the Weapon, and you must teleport back to Kingsmarch before sailing to Ngakanu. Once you arrive in Ngakanu, you must fight through waves of enemy packs and look for the entrance to the Heart of the Tribe.
Defeat Tavakai
Within the Heart of the Tribe, look for a section called the Sacred Interior. It is a building nearby a checkpoint, and is the Tavakai boss area. Tavakai has 3 phases, so bring your best gear!
Upon defeating the boss, The Hooded One will heal Tavakai and Makoru. This concludes Act 4's final boss fight.
Return to Kingsmarch
Return to Kingsmarch and talk to The Hooded One. This completes The Search quest, and will unlock the Interludes Quests.

Completing the The Search quest unlocks the Three Interlude Quests avilable in The Third Edict update. These Interludes will serve as your bridges Act 4 and the endgame.
