Path of Exile 2 (PoE 2) Corrupted Items Explained and How to Fix

You can get Corrupted items by using Corruption Altars or Vaal Orbs in Path of Exile 2 (PoE 2). Read on to learn What corrupted items are, how to get them, and if there's a way to fix corrupted items!

What are Corrupted Items?

Items with Randomized Modifiers

Corrupted items have all of their stats modified randomly. Some stats can go up, others can go down, so whether or not the item turns out to be good is purely up to RNG.

Corrupting Items Can Sometimes Do Nothing

Corrupting an item sometimes doesn't change or improve any of the item's current modifiers and simply applies corruption to it, disabling further modifications.

Disables Further Modification

Once you've corrupted an item, you can no longer make any further modifications to it, so make sure that corrupting an item is the last step when modifying your items via crafting.

How to Fix Corrupted Items

Corrupted Items are Permanent

Unfortunately, you cannot reverse the effects of corruption on your items and equipment. Whatever effects are added stays permanent and cannot be further modified. With this in mind, corrupting an item should be the final step when attempting to gamble for good mods on it.

How to Get Corrupted Items

Use Vaal Orbs

Vaal Orbs are items you can obtain from the Trial of Chaos in Act 3. These orbs work the same way as a Corruption Altar, except you can bring them around with you.

Use Corruption Altars

First, you need to find a Corruption Altar. During the Legacy of the Vaal questline in Act 2, you will head to several areas that have Corruption Altars. These areas include the Vaal Ruins, Jiquani's Sanctum, and the Temple of Atzoatl.

Interact with the altar, then drag the triangle you see to an item in your inventory that you wish to corrupt.
