Tavakai, the Chieftain is an Act 4 Main Boss in Path of Exile 2 (PoE 2). See the location, the drops or rewards, and tips on how to beat Tavakai, the Chieftain here.

Tavakai is the final boss of Act 4. You'll find him at the Heart of the Tribe area after sailing and passing through the first area of Ngakanu.
The final two phases of the Tavakai fight feature numerous hazards, including ground effects, persistent spikes that explode, and mechanics from earlier phases that can reappear. While they do not deal a lot of damage, they can quickly drain your Life Flasks if you're hit repeatedly.
Stay alert of these hazards and position yourself carefuly to avoid running out of resources and losing the fight.

Tavakai is a three-phase boss encounter at the end of Act Four and can be difficult for many players. Upgrade your gear to improve resistances and defenses, but more importantly, craft flasks that generate charges automatically to sustain yourself throughout the battle.

| Move or Mechanic | Details & How to Dodge |
|---|---|
| Summon Warrior Spirits | Tavakai rends the earth and spews emerald fragments that harden into statues. After a brief pause, they snap to life as Warrior Spirits and attack the player. Kill these adds as soon as you can. |
| Shatter | Tavakai hurls a levitating stone sphere into the air and strikes it with his axe, sending a deadly shower of razor-sharp shards across the arena. Avoid damage by moving clear of the sphere as soon as it appears. |
| Reel-In | Tavakai hurls a hooked line at the player. If it connects, it drags them into melee where he follows up with a rapid flurry of strikes. Sidestep the hook or use a movement skill to stay out of its path. |
| Splintering Jade | Tavakai slams his foot into the earth, calling up a line of razor-edged spikes, then smashes them apart with his axe, sending shards flying in all directions. As soon as the spikes rise, back away quickly to avoid being caught in the blast of fragments. |
| Colossus Slam | Tavakai transforms into a towering beast and crashes down with immense force, scattering explosive jade shards across the battlefield. As soon as Tavakai begins to grow in size, create distance. |
| Statue Rupture | Tavakai lunges ahead in a sudden leap, leaving a statue marker at his starting point. Upon landing, he slams his axe into the ground, unleashing a wide shockwave as the statue shatters in a violent detonation. As soon as Tavakai leaps, steer clear of both his landing zone and the statue he leaves behind. |
| Move or Mechanic | Details & How to Dodge |
|---|---|
| "Darken the night, Rongokurai!" or "Bring shadow, Father of Night!" Void of Rongokurai |
Tavakai conjures void serpents that circle the arena, scattering pools of dark energy along their path. These pools slow movement on contact, making dodging his other attacks far more dangerous. Avoid them as much as possible. |
| "Cleanse us, Tasalio!" Tasalio's Rain |
Tavakai summons streams of water projectiles from above that track the player's position. Keep sprinting and weaving across the arena to stay ahead of their trajectory. |
| "Spill forth, Ngamahu!" or "Erupt, Mother of Fire!" Ngamahu's Eruption |
Tavakai summons a volcanic spire that erupts, raining molten lava across a large section of the arena. Run away from the volcano when it forms and keep moving until it disappears. |
| "Entangle them, Father of the Forest!" Tawhoa's Verdant Cage |
Tavakai floods the arena with overgrowth, leaving only a clear space in the center. Stay inside the central clearing. If you step onto the overgrowth, your damage gets reduced. |
| "Aid me, Daughter of the Moon!" Aronhongui's Moonlight |
Tavakai calls forth a large moonbeam that crashes down, chilling a wide area on impact. The strike is heavily telegraphed, stationary, and easily avoided by stepping out of the zone. |
| "Rise, Father of Storm!" Valako's Storm |
Darkness engulfs the arena as Tavakai summons a barrage of lightning strikes. Keep moving to avoid being caught in the storm. |
| "Step forward, Father of Light!" Ramako's Sunfall |
A searing orb of sunfire descends from above, leaving burning ground in its wake before exploding in a fiery nova. Keep moving to dodge both the flames and the blast. |
| Bloodstream Serpents | Tavakai unleashes several jets of blood from his hand that snake toward the player. Dodge roll sideways to slip past their path. |
| Crimson Bloom | Tavakai spreads clusters of blood that bloom across the ground before erupting in a violent explosion. Dash or roll out of it before the detonation |
| Scarlet Spiral | Tavakai summons blood spikes that erupt from the ground in a spiraling pattern, repeating the attack several times in succession. Markers reveal where they will rise, so stay alert and dodge outward or between gaps until the spikes stop. |
| Emerald Sundering | Tavakai swings his axe in an arc, sundering the ground in front of him and causing jade spikes to erupt in a wide cone. Keep to his flanks or sidestep the cone to stay safe. |
| Move or Mechanic | Details & How to Dodge |
|---|---|
| Bloodspikes | With a brutal slam, Tavakai drives blood-forged crystals bursting from the ground around the arena. Stay clear of the spikes. |
| Bloodspike Detonation | Tavakai raises jagged blood spikes from the earth, then releases a deafening roar that triggers them to erupt in a chain of explosions. Before he roars, dash or sidestep away from the spikes to stay safe. |
| Rampage | Tavakai unleashes a rapid series of strikes, then leaps into the air and crashes down with a powerful slam. Keep moving during the flurry, and sidestep or roll to avoid consecutive hits. |
Manoki, the Chosen can be fought in Eye of the Storm, a Jade Isles map within the endgame Atlas. Manoki wields the same movesets as Tavakai but with significantly increased damage, harsher mechanics, and more punishing patterns, making them a true test of skill for seasoned players.
