Destroy the Blocked Entrance Marked By a Skull Icon in High-Level Logbooks


	This icon indicates the entrance to Olroth's boss arena.

Olroth, Origin of the Fall, can be encountered randomly in level 79 or higher Expedition Logbooks. The entrance to his arena is marked by a skull icon on the map. You’ll need to detonate an explosive near the indicated area, which will reveal the entrance to the Kalguran Tomb where you can fight Olroth.

Don't Worry About Remnant Modifiers

Path of Exile 2 - Don

The powerful Remnant Modifiers that affect all the monsters in a logbook does not apply to Olroth, Origin of Fall. Don't worry about getting dangerous, but rewarding modifiers as it will not change how difficult the fight is against Olroth.

You can, however, play safe and do less dangerous modifiers to safely get to the Kalguran Tomb and enter the Olroth boss fight.

Look Out for the Rune Rotating Around the Arena

Despite Olroth's straightforward moveset, the spinning rune surrounding the arena has several area-denial moves that can make the fight more challenging. Always try to be aware where the rune is and whether it's about to attack.

Fight Near the Edge of the Arena to Lessen the Ground Effects

Olroth has two very troublesome attacks that leave ground effects that damage, Slow, and can potentially can Freeze you. These are the slow sword slam which leaves a pulsing Cold explosion, and the powerful Cold laser that the spinning rune does on phase 2. Because of the danger of these ground effects, it's best to try and have them in less disadventageous locations in the arena

Fight Olroth near the edge to force some of these ground effects to be near the ledge, which should give you a bit more space to fight in a more comfortable position.

Mitigate Slows, Chill, or Freeze

Olroth deals a lot of Cold damage and has a ground effects that Slow, Chill, or even Freeze you. Getting Slowed or Chilled slows your attacks and movement allowing you to effectively deal less damage and makes dodging Olroths attack harder. While Freeze completely disables any actions and leaves you open for attacks which could be fatal.

A Silver Charm can mitigate the Slowing effect of Chill and other Slows, while a Thawing Charm can make you immune to Freeze for a moment. Getting more Life and some form of Ailment Threshold can help mitigate getting Frozen, and Energy Shield builds may also spec into Icebreaker to increase their Freeze Threshold.

High-Threat Moves

Moves	Details & How to Dodge
“Starfire!” Exterminating Chill Beam	The Kalguran Rune fires a powerful laser, leaving a ground effect that applies Exterminating Chill, which slows and deals Cold Damage Over Time. Stay on the opposite side of the rune to have more time to react and avoid the laser.
Sword Beams	Olroth slashes multiple times, releasing Cold-damage sword beams. Staying close allows easier sidesteps to dodge the projectiles.
Sword Slam	Olroth charges his sword and slams it down, dealing Cold damage followed by seven pulsing waves. Stay away from this attack's area as the succeeding pulses will Chill and possibly Freeze you.
“Purify!” Orbital Rune Laser	Cold beams surrounds you and close in toward their center. Dodge Roll away from the center, through the beams, to escape before the beams converge tightly and deal a significant amount of Cold Damage Over Time.

Sword Dash	Olroth dashes forward and slashes with his sword. You can move sideways to avoid this attack.
Rune Laser	The Kalguran Rune will fire a continuous laser at the arena. This only damages the small area where the laser hits so you can move freely through the laser beam.
“You will fail!” Unblockable Sword Throw	Olroth glows red and throws his sword like a boomerang which returns after a short delay. Move behind him to avoid the returning blade and get a short opening to retaliate.
