Vaal Orb is a Currency Item that corrupts items with random outcomes in Path of Exile 2 (PoE 2) . See the possible outcomes when using Vaal Orbs, how to get and use Vaal Orbs, as well as an overview of the item.

Modify Implicits and Affixes
Vaal Orbs are able to modify implicits and affixes of weapons, armors, accessories, and other equipment.
Note: The unique modifiers of unique equipment can also be modified, potentially downgrading or bricking your unique!
Reroll Existing Affixes
Vaal Orbs can also reroll the values of affixes. This is fairly risky as it could be an upgrade or a downgrade for your item.
Add Socket to Equipment
Vaal Orbs can also add an extra socket to equipment, beyond what is normally allowed. This lets you insert an extra Rune or Soul Core to make your equipment even more potent.
Add a Support Gem Slot
Vaal Orbs can also be used on Skill Gems, adding an extra slot for a Support Gem. A Skill Gem can only have up to 5 Support Gem slots.
Change Gem Level and Quality
Vaal Orbs can also modify the level of Skill Gems, either increasing or decreasing it by 1. A Skill Gem's quality can also be altered when using a Vaal Orb.
No Change to Item
It's also possible that a Vaal Orb can do absolutely nothing and you end up with a corrupted item. Corrupted items cannot be modified further.

Omen of Corruption makes sure to guarantee a change in the value of an item's modifiers, including its Implicit. This item can be useful for situations where you crafted an item with low value modifiers and would want to gamble for a chance to make the item better!
Changes the Rewards from Essence Entrapped Enemies
When encountering enemies trapped in Essences, you can use a Vaal Orb to change its rewards into different Essences by pressing right-click on the Vaal Orb and pressing left-click on the Essence before setting the enemy free. This method is useful when hunting for specific Essences to make crafting more reliable!
How to Get Vaal Orb
Dropped by Enemies
Vaal Orb has a chance to drop randomly while defeating enemies you encounter. These items can drop at any point in the game.
Obtained from Trial of Chaos
Vaal Orb is obtained from the Trial of Chaos. The Trial of Chaos is found in Vaal Jungle which is accessible in Act 3.
Use Currency Exchange
Vaal Orb can be obtained by visiting the Currency Exchange NPC in every Act. Currency Exchange becomes available after completing Act 3.

Apply on Gear and Items
Vaal Orb is used by applying it on different types of equipment and other items to modify its properties.
Right click this item then left click an item to corrupt it. Corrupted items cannot be modified again. Shift click to unstack.
