Ascendancy Choice is Permanent

Path of Exile 2 - Claim Your Ascendancy

Unfortunately, changing your Ascendancy class is not possible after you've already made the initial decision. If you want to try out the other Ascendancy classes, you'll have to make a new character and unlock Ascendancy again.

It's Possible to Change Ascendancy After Early Access

In Path of Exile 1, players can change their Ascendancy Classes at the Altar of Ascendancy in the Labyrinth, which is similar to Path of Exile 2's Ascension Trials.

It's possible that for the game's full release, players will be allowed to change their Ascendancy Classes in one of the two available trials (Trial of Sekhemas or Trial of Chaos), or even on the third unrevealed trial.

Respec For A New Build

How to Respec

While changing Ascendancies would be impossible for an existing character, it is possible to respec the choices you made on the Passive Skill Tree to try out a new build. Choosing to respec will cost you a lot of gold, however.
