Hello Danika. Tarantulas come out from 7 pm to 4 am randomly on your island if you're on the south hemisphere now. When you see one, hold the A button so you will hold your net and walk slowly. When the tarantula raises its legs, don't move until he puts them down. Keep doing it until you have enough distance to catch it.
