Should You Craft Golden Tools?

Golden Tools.png
Golden Tools are twice or thrice more durable than normal Tools. However, all of them need Golden Nuggets, a rare material to craft them, and they will still break.

We recommend using those Materials for other DIY items that do not break instead.

Are Colorful and Outdoorsy Tools More Durable?

Purchasable Tools Have the Same Durability as Normal Tools

Colorful tool broken.jpg
You can purchase ready-made tools at Nook's Cranny. Although Colorful and Outdoorsy Tools look fancier, they are as durable as normal tools that you can craft.

Should You Buy Tools Instead?

Colorful tools at Nooks Cranny.jpg

Buy if You're Saving Up on Materials

If you're saving up on Materials such as Wood, which are less common than Hardwood and Softwood, you can buy these tools instead for 2,500 Bells each at Nook's Cranny.

If you don't mind spending a few Bells, you can get Tools fast.

Craft Instead if You're Saving on Bells

Colorful and Outdoorsy Tools might be a bit expensive, so if you have enough Materials, you can just craft them instead.

Alternatively, you can buy the Flimsy versions instead then upgrade them at the workbench.

Item Price
Flimsy Watering Can 800
Flimsy Net 400
Flimsy Fishing Rod 400
Flimsy Shovel 400
Flimsy Axe 800

How to Increase Tool Durability

Upgrade the Tool

Crafting.jpg
If you're using a lower variant of a tool (Flimsy, or Stone), you can upgrade the tool by crafting at the workbench. You will now have the durability of the crafted item.

Reset the Durability through Customization

Customize Tools
You can also customize a tool to reset its durability. Think that customizing an item "converts" it to a new one, similar to upgrading tools.

You Can Only Customize Normal Tools

You cannot customize flimsy or Golden Tools. The only tools that you can customize are the following: Net, Shovel, Fishing Rod, and Watering Can.
