The Winter Update for Animal Crossing: New Horizons was released on November 19, 2020 (Thursday) at 8:00 PM EDT. However, the new events won't be playable ahead of time, so there is not a lot to do until November 26 where Turkey Day is on!

General Updates
Two seasonal events, Turkey Day and Toy Day, have been added. Residents can visit Resident Services to put in a request to increase the capacity of their home storage. Luna can now offer random dream destinations by selecting the “Surprise me” option. A new feature for transferring save data between different systems has been added.

Additional Nook Miles redemption items. Additional limited-time seasonal items from Nook Shopping. Additional DIY recipes that use seasonal materials. Additional Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp collaboration item.
Fixed Issues
Other adjustments and corrections were made to improve the game play experience.

New Events

As of version 1.6.0, new events are time locked, meaning you can't time travel to access the events before the specified event date. Once officially released, you can time travel to them at any time, even after the event has ended.

A couple of new DIY items have been added to some of the different series already available in the game, like the Summer-Shell Rug for the Shell Series and the Festive Rug for the Festive Series. We'll continue to update if we confirm more!

New Toy Day Items

Toy Day gifts will be available at Nook's Cranny from December 1 to December 25. They can be given as gifts to your villagers on Toy Day or you can purchase one for your own house!

Aurora Wall Available: 12/1~12/31 (Southern Hemisphere)

We were able to confirm the two seasonal items above having been added with the Winter Update. The period you can order then in is from December 1 to December 31, so make sure you get them while you can!

Note: We found the items by going back to June between 6/21 to 7/6, where the Aurora Wall was available for Southern Hemisphere and the Sunflower Rug was available in the Northern Hemisphere. This might not be intentional and might get fixed!
