You can invite Villagers as guests using amiibo in various facilities in Animal Crossing: New Horizons (ACNH). See how to invite guests with amiibo and which facilities support amiibo functions!
How to Invite Guests Using amiibo
Use the amiibo Scanner
Facilities that support amiibo will have scanners that can be used to scan amiibo or amiibo cards. They will then be invited to the facility where you can hang out with them!

How to Use amiibo
You can scan amiibo by placing the figure or card on top of your right Joy-Con or in the middle of your Pro Controller.

Hotel
The amiibo feature of the hotel will be unlocked after you have decorated eight rooms and unlocked the VIP room, which will take at least five in-game days.
After unlocking the scanner, you will be able to invite Villagers using amiibo and they will stay on the hotel for a day. You can use the scanner near Leilani's counter at the left side of the hotel lobby.
Version 3.0 of the game added a hotel near the pier where you can decorate rooms for visitors in your island.
Guest Limitations
All Villagers can be invited to stay in the hotel, but any resident or campsite visitor on your island cannot be invited to stay. Some special characters will also stay in the hotel, but only if these characters do not have active jobs on your island.
Everything You Can Do in the Hotel
Campsite
Once you have upgraded your Resident Services, you'll be able to build a campsite on your island where you can invite Villagers using amiibo to camp.
To invite Villagers, use the Nook Stop at Resident Services. The Villager from the amiibo will then put up a tent at the campsite, where you can invite them to live on your island.
Photopia
You can also use amiibo to place Villagers inside the Photopia studio found in Harv's Island. This will allow you to take pictures with Villagers that you do not have as residents on your island.
While editing the objects inside photo studio, you can scan the amiibo on your controller to make them appear.
How to Unlock Harv's Island and Photopia
The Roost
Amiibo can also be used to invite Villagers for coffee and tea inside The Roost, which is found inside the museum. You can use the telephone found on the left of the cafe to scan an amiibo.
The Roost is unlocked after completing Blathers' request to contact Brewster, who you will initially find on an island while on a Mystery Island Tour.

Happy Home Paradise
The Happy Home Paradise DLC uses amiibo to invite Villagers on the island, where you can build their dream home. This feature is unlocked halfway through the DLC's storyline.
You can use the scanner on Lottie's desk to invite Villagers to stay on the island and accept their request to build their house.
