This guide shows how to get villager photos and posters in Animal Crossing: New Horizons (ACNH), on Nintendo Switch. Read on to learn how to get photos from villagers, posters using Photopia on Harvey's Island, and what you can do with photos and posters after getting them.
List of Contents
Very rarely, a villager could give you their photo, in return for giving them a present. You can increase your chance of receiving a villager's photo by raising your friendship level with them.
Additionally, follow these tips:
When you give a villager a present that sells for less than 2,500 Bells, they are more likely to give you bells in return. To avoid receiving Bells in return (and increase your chance of receiving a photo), give villagers presents that sell for at least 2,500 Bells.
Crafting a Crest Doorplate calls for only 4 Iron Nuggets and it sells for 3,000 Bells, meeting the 2,500-Bell requirement described above. Since doorplates can only be hung on doors, you won't have to worry about your neighbor decorating their entire home with multiple Crest Doorplates! This makes the Crest Doorplate the most efficient item to give villagers, to get villager photos.
|Steps to Get Villager Posters|
|1||Fly to Photopia on Harv's Island.|
|2||Go inside Photopia and call villagers (or amiibos), via decorating mode.|
|3||Use your phone's camera to take photos of your villagers.|
|4||Fly back to your island and buy villager posters from Nook Shopping, via Nook Stop terminal or via Nook Shopping App.|
Go to the airport, choose I wanna fly!, then choose Visit Harv's island. Go inside Harvey's photo studio and you will arrive at Photopia.
How to Unlock Harvey's Island and Photopia
It's not necessary to arrange your villager(s) in a decent manner, before taking a photo, but you can if you want! Once your villagers have been arranged, take at least one photo of them using your camera.
How to Use the Camera
Though it's possible to change your villagers' clothes for the photoshoot, the clothes they wear, during the shoot, will not be the same clothes that appear in their poster. Villager posters from Step 4 will always show predetermined costumes.
When you return to your island, after your first photoshoot with a villager, Harvey will call and tell you that your villager's poster is now available to order from Nook Shopping (via Nook Stop terminal or Nook Shopping App). Harvey won't call you after future photoshoots, but your villagers' posters will still be available to buy.
In Nook Shopping, select Special Goods, press R once, and you will see the list of villager posters available for you to buy.
Repeat Steps 1 to 4 for all villagers (or group of villagers) that live on your island (or for all amiibos you own), to collect all villager posters!
Villager photos can be placed or hung in your home, as well as placed outside.
If you stand in front of a photo and press A, you will be given information about the villager's birthday, zodiac sign, and catchphrase (greeting).
Villager posters can be hung on the walls of your house.
Decorating your home with villager photos and posters rewards you with bonus points for your Happy Home Academy (HHA) evaluation, raising your HHA Rank.
