This is a guide to deleting your save data and moving islands in Animal Crossing: New Horizons (ACNH). In addition to how to erase your saved data and start a new game, we will show you how to move your data to another Switch, as well as how to restart your game.

The Island Backup and Restoration Service does not support moving save data to another Switch system. However, they are planned to be released this year. More details will be written when news is released.
An island backup restoration service is available for lost or damaged Switch devices by uploading your data via the Internet. Check out this separate to learn how to avail of this service.
Your Animal Crossing island save data is stored in the system's internal memory. This means that you cannot carry over your save data to a new Switch, as of the moment.
When you start the game with your profile on another Switch system, you will lose your data.

|3||Go to “Data Management”|
|4||Choose “Delete Save Data”|
|5||Select Animal Crossing: New Horizons|
|6||Select the profile who's saved data will be deleted|
First, press the Home Button on the Switch to go Home. The Home Button is the small round button found underneath the right joystick.
From the Home Screen, find the Settings Icon from the bottom right side of the screen.
From Settings, scroll down on the left-hand column until you find Data Management, then select it.
After selecting Data Management, scroll down on the right-hand colum. Find Delete Save Data from the bottom of this list.

After choosing Delete Save Data, select Animal Crossing: New Horizon from the list of games.
After selecting the game, it will ask you which profile will have the save data deleted. Choose Delete Save Data for [Name]. This will complete save data deletion.
There is no in-game option to restart New Horizons. However, you can delete all save data on the Switch to start fresh. Please follow the instructions above to do so.

>>17 Couldn't you just set it to backup your island in game(via Cloud) , then delete it from your system to start fresh with the option of going back to your original island if you ever felt the need? Youd obviously have to delete the new island you started in or to restore your old island but, in theory it could work. Im going to give it a try lol whats almost 300 hours on my current island anyway, right 😬😬🤦♂️🤷♂️
