ACNH - How to Get Rid of Cockroaches

To get rid of cockroaches in Animal Crossing: New Horizons (ACNH), simply step on them with your character. For more information on cockroaches, be sure to read this guide!

How to Get Rid of Cockroaches

Step On the Cockroaches

ACNH - A resident steps on a cockroach
To get rid of Cockroaches, simply step on them with your character.

Once you've gotten rid of all Cockroaches, you will make a celebratory reaction!

ACNH - A cockroach gets killed
If you manage to get rid of all Cockroaches within your house, your character will make a happy reaction and a message will appear.

If you haven't seen the message yet, there are still Cockroaches left in your house.

Move Furniture

ACNH - A cockroach hiding underneath a desk
It's possible that the Cockroaches are hiding below you furniture. Move them around until you find the sneaky buggers.

Look In Other Rooms

If you've expanded your house, Cockroaches will appear in other rooms as well.

If you have several rooms, take note that a new Cockroach might spawn in a room you've already been in, so check all rooms carefully.

Cockroaches Cannot be Caught in New Horizons

In previous Animal Crossing games, you could find Cockroaches on trees and catch them.

Unfortunately, New Horizons only have the sneaky Cockroaches that appear inside your house, and you are unable to catch them.

Cockroaches Appear After 1 Month of Not Playing

Cockroaches will appear if you don't play for more than a month or if you skip ahead in time with Time Travel.

The more time passes, the more Cockroaches will spawn, so check in often to avoid your house being taken over by them!
