Hi - I picked up my first one just this morning! Idea is to chat to them every day, and give gifts also. On this site it suggest a value over 2,500 bells, but a suggestion (from Len) I followed is to give them analysed fossils once no longer needed by your museum. Takes ages, but it does work in the end. Hardest things to get hold of I think!
I got mine by giving them 5 wrapped fruits. And sometimes giving them iron doorplate or hanging terrarium
