Nioh 3 is set for a PS5 console launch alongside PC, with its release terms leaving room for other platforms. Read on for what’s been confirmed.
Nioh 3 Platform Availability
Timed PS5 Console Exclusivity, PC Launch Confirmed
Nioh 3 is launching on February 6 for PS5 and PC, with a six-month exclusivity window revealed in a PlayStation features trailer uploaded on January 30. At the end of the features trailer, a splash screen displayed the title with a note that says "PlayStation 5 console exclusive*." The asterisk clarified that the game will also be available on PC, but also stated that it would not be available on other consoles until at least six months after its release on February 6.
While the note did not confirm versions for Xbox Series or Nintendo platforms, it clearly frames the exclusivity as time-limited. Unlike earlier titles such as Nioh and Nioh 2, which were published by Sony outside Japan and marketed as PlayStation console exclusives, Nioh 3 is being published globally by Koei Tecmo, with exclusivity defined by a fixed window rather than platform lock-in.
If Nioh 3 does arrive on other consoles after its exclusivity window ends in August, it would mark a change for the series rather than the studio itself. Previous Nioh entries launched on PlayStation before eventually coming to PC, but neither expanded to other consoles.

The studio’s recent releases show a similar pattern. Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty, published solely by Koei Tecmo, launched simultaneously across PlayStation, Xbox, and PC in 2023, while Rise of the Ronin, published by Sony Interactive Entertainment, released as a PS5 exclusive before arriving on PC roughly a year later. With Nioh 3 once again under Koei Tecmo’s publishing control, its timed console exclusivity suggests the possibility of a wider console release once contractual restrictions expire, though no additional platforms have been confirmed.
PS5 Specific Features

In addition to platform details, the PlayStation features trailer also highlights several of the game’s technical upgrades. It showcases PS5-specific enhancements such as 4K visual output on compatible displays, along with DualSense features including haptic feedback and adaptive triggers that respond to weapon use and ranged attacks. It also highlights enhanced 3D audio for improved spatial awareness.
Players can also try the game ahead of launch through a demo, with progress carrying over to the full release. Completing the demo grants the Twin-Snake Helmet as a bonus item when Nioh 3 officially launches. For a closer look at how it plays, we’ve shared our impressions below.
