Learn how to mass-produce any 2x1 item with our step-by-step guide for Animal Crossing: New Horizons (ACNH) on the Nintendo Switch. Read on for more information about the glitch with our guide below!
List of Contents
A glitch has been discovered by players for the second time around in the game's V1.2 update, which was shared in a Youtube video by user Artificial Switch. This allows you to create several copies of any 2x1 miscellaneous furniture inside your homes.
Take note that this is a glitch not intended by the developers and has been fixed with a game update.
A first duplication glitch was discovered back in March, and was immediately patched in the V1.1.1 update.
Step | Directions |
---|---|
1 | Enter Decorating Mode. |
2 | Place the 1x1 tables next to each other. |
3 | Place the 2x1 table, then the 2x1 item on top of it. |
4 | Place the table with the item over 2 small tables. |
5 | Repeat the process. |
6 | Leave and return to the room to see the copies of the item. |
7 | Enter Decorating Mode to put the items into storage. |
In an empty room, press the Down Arrow button on your D-Pad to enter Decorating Mode.
Place the small tables on the ground, making sure that there are exactly 2 spaces around them (enough for a 1x1 item to fit).
In our test, we used 7 tables; one is actually a stool, and the other one is a wardrobe, but it still works because you can place items on top of them. This means that most stools and chairs will not make copies of the item, since you cannot place items on top of them.
Place the 2x1 table on the ground, then the 2x1 item to be replicated.
This step is crucial, and will determine the success of your item duplication.
While pointing at the 2x1 table, press the L button to swap layers. Do not use the R button to grab the objects.
Press and hold the A button to drag it over 2 small tables. When you drop it, it should rotate.
Keep repeating the prior step to guarantee item duplication.
Exit Decorating Room, and exit the room. This will give the copies an opportunity to load into the game..
Go back to the room, and depending on how well you did step 5, you should have at least one copy of the item.
Now, you cannot manually pick the items up. You will need to go back into Decorating Mode, and press the Y button over the items to send them to the storage.
You can duplicate these items to sell at Nook's Cranny for easy Bells!
The LCD TV (50 in.) is the most expensive furniture that you can get at Nook's Cranny, with a selling price of 24,750 Bells.
Item | Selling Price |
---|---|
Great White Shark Model | 45,000 Bells |
Whale Shark Model | 39,000 Bells |
Arapaima Model | 30,000 Bells |
Oarfish Model | 27,000 Bells |
LCD TV (50 in.) | 24,750 Bells |
Ocean Sunfish | 12,000 Bells |
Katana | 2,500 Bells |
If you cannot pick up an item, duplicated or not, with the Y button, you need to enter Decorating Mode by pressing the Down Arrow button, and store the item instead by pressing the Y button over it.
If you cannot place an item on the table, it means that there is an "invisible item" on top of it. Leave and enter the room again to reveal invisible items.
To make sure, try moving around the table, or add tables around the room so invisible models will appear on top of them.
If you find yourself losing items along the process, one possibility is that the item model is just "invisible". Try placing tables all around the room to reveal "invisible items".
If this does not work, it could be possible that your item got deleted in the process of recreating this glitch, so only do this at your own risk!
As of May 21, 2020, a new update is available to download via the Internet, which fixes all the glitches found in the V 1.2.0 update of the game.

“Fixed a serious bug affecting game balance.”

Players who did the duplication glitches were not punished for abusing it. All the items and Bells gotten through this glitch remained in their inventories. However, some have noted that they have lost items along the way while recreating this glitch. Only do this at your own risk!
