How to Make Black Cosmoses

Cross Pollinate Two Orange Hybrid Cosmoses

ACNH - Flowers needed to grow Black Cosmos

Among cosmoses, Black Cosmoses are one of the most difficult flower hybrids to make. Cross pollinating these can take a lot of time, even with time travelling.

Note: Cosmoses that are native to your island have random cross pollination patterns. The information given here will only cover flowers bought from a store.

Time Traveling Guide

Steps to breed Black Cosmoses

1 Gather some Red and Yellow Cosmoses.
2 Make some Orange Hybrid Cosmoses by cross pollinating Red and Yellow Cosmoses.
3 Use the Orange Hybrid Cosmoses to make Black Cosmoses.

You need an Orange Hybrid Cosmos

The first step in making Black Cosmoses is to gather up some Red and Yellow Cosmoses to make Orange Hybrid Cosmoses. Use the Orange Hybrid Cosmoses to create Black Cosmoses.

Note that the cosmoses you use will need to have been bought from Nook's Cranny as seeds, as the ones growing natively on your island have random cross pollination patterns.

For more information on how to cross pollinate, see the link below.

Black Cosmoses may not grow the next day

Even if you've fulfilled all the preconditions for Cross Pollination, Black Cosmoses may not grow the very next day. If there are no new flowers, you'll simply have to continue watering them.

Get them from Mystery Tours

There is a chance that Black Cosmoses might grow on Mystery Islands. Note that Mystery Islands can only ever give you one other type of flower, so you're not guaranteed to find Black Cosmoses on them.

Trade Online

If you're struggling to get a specific flower type or hybrid color, trading with others online might be the quickest way to get them!

Clone the Black Cosmoses you have

The easiest way to get Black Cosmoses for sure is to clone the ones you have. To clone flowers, plant them somewhere where they aren't touching any other flowers of their type and water them every day. Eventually, they will make a copy of themselves in one of the empty spaces!

Repeat the Breeding Process

Once you get Black Cosmoses to grow, you can repeat the process to get more. These flowers are used to make other hybrid flowers as well, so why not grow a lot while you're at it?
